well i just purchased a shell here and i would like to make sure that no rust jumps on it. its clean and currently doesn't have a spec of rust. what would u recomend spraying the undercarriage with? and the wheel wells.

i was thinking something like a truck bedliner.

i live in canada and it will rust quick if i don't take any precautions

I thought all 240's undercarriage were already sprayed. Maybe its just all the dirt and grime under my car that makes it look like that. As long as you not in a salty environment I don't think you will have too much to worry. I think the main part of a 240 (s13) that rusts is the rear spoiler area.

someone on here (twitchy?) lives in a snowy area and everytime this question comes up he says to oilspray it every winter.

never had it done, never seen it done but i think its not just for paint. im pretty sure i remember the guy saying he has his underside sprayed too. makes sense... oil repels water. probably makes the car dirty as hell though lol.

From what I understand oil spraying is everywhere on the car(inside rocker panels etc.)I live in a very snowy climite and probably the best thing to do is always keep the car clean. Both underside and paint. Dad has a '86 monte carlo with next to none rust on it but it was always clean. I see people with '95 cars that are rusting to crap already....

If it has no rust than don't worry to much about it.

If I bought an S13 hatch i would take off the hatch and sand/rustomleum/paint (color match w/ spray paint since noone sees it) the entire part of the hatch with it off. Most s13's DO rust all along there. When water seeps in through that pillar and hatch it stays there basically until it evaporates.

Also if it has a spoiler than take it off and do teh same to the mounting points of the spoiler...
