OK. I've been searching forever and nothing answers my questions. My question is "I have a 248/248 can swap and I've read that optimal timing is 3.5 teeth or 5 degrees advance and we can use the jwt gears or re-drill the stock gears. I'm not confident so I bought one. No, I followed the instructions on jwt sheets, and 5 degrees is use #3 or 4 teeth back and the pin on the cams goes to the same number on the inner side. I did that, and I noticed that the cam lobes hasn't moved. It's still facing up like how u would align the intake cam mark. It's like using the stock gears on the proper timing marks with out rotating it. How do I do the 3.5 teeth/5degrees advance? "

You move the cam into the 'gear hole' location you desire, and then tighten it down. The chain marks should remain the same regardless, it's just that you move the dowel pin location on the cam to the spot you need.
