They suck. I've been through two now and both of them are super delayed and not sensitive enough. Don't know why I even wasted my money on them. Should have just stuck with the tried and true mechanical boost gauge.

Is it imperative that the constant and ignition aren't wired up together on ignition?

That's odd all my greddy gauges are very responsive...

My aem gauge work just fine as well! So that's what blows my mind. It must be the way I wired it.

Some gauges are finicky, What brand is the new one. If its a cheapie dont be disappointed. I use The turbosmart eboost street and it worrks good.
The wiring does matter so make sure its done right, also the length of vacuum tubing running to it should be as short as possible for response

Strange my Defi works great and is very fast?

My Greddy one works great. You may wanna re-wire it to factory specs.

Are you using ProSport gauges? If so, the problem isn't it being an electric gauge, the problem is that ProSport sucks. All 3 of mine have failed over the course of 3 years. If Nissan can make gauges that work for 20+ years, why can't these fuck sticks make one that lasts 5.
If it isn't ProSport, disregard this.

aem truboost here, works perfect, only thing is that it wont read halfs but i dont mind... I've seen some people talk about adjusting their boost to like .25... Really?

On an AEM? Imperative or it will never self calibrate right.

I'm running the defi red racer. Re wired it yesterday and shortened the ground and it still sucks balls. Also shortened the vacuum line a whole lot as well. I've seen YouTube videos of the red racer and they seem to be extremely responsive. I have a feeling that I bought a lemon.

Does a defi need to be programmed?

I don't know about the Defi. The AEM takes a reference barometric pressure when the car is turned to the on position. Then stores it while the key is turned to start. If they are wired together it will reset while the ignition is in the start position then try to grab it while the car is running and be way off.
I picked the AEM because it uses the GM 3 bar map that they use in there MAP/IAT conversion kit. I was never impressed with the black box sensor that came with other boost gauges I tried.

Correct me if I'm wrong but, i've always been under the impression that the boost gauge becomes inaccurate if you shorten the vaccum hose.

Defi's do not need to be programmed. My Defi's are going on 6yrs old now, they work flawlessly and I've never had an issue with them.

The shorter it is the les time it takes the air to travel to the sensor meaning that a quicker response to the gauge. Also, the larger the inner diameter of the vacuum line the quicker the response as well.

So if my gauge is extremely slow to react the. Should I get a hold of defi? You can call aem right up and they'll help you from there but I'm finding it harder to get a hold of defi to resolve the situation.

Smaller the line the quicker the response. Less volume to fill.

My mechanical harbor freight $20.99 boost gauge works just fine... Then again I'm saving for greddy in the near future.

Yeah my mechanical boost gauges have always worked well due to it being mechanical and not electronic.

Call Defi and see if you can trouble shoot. Perhaps you received a faulty gauge. Have you tried disconnecting all the other gauges and running just the boost gauge to the control unit?

Unfortunately I don't have that type of setup with the defi link. I just have the standalone defi red racer. I could only imagine how well the gauge would work if I spent the extra money to get a defi link and the comparable defi gauge.
