I currently don't have an engine in my car and I want to roll up the windows so I can take it down to the shop and get the engine put back in. My battery is bad so I hooked it up to my other car with jumper cable and started my other car. I get good power to the battery but nothing inside the car will power on. Am I missing something?
I have the ground from the battery to the frame and I also attached a ground from the transmission harness to the frame. Is there another one that has to be grounded in order for anything to work? I hooked up the 3 plugs from the transmission harness to the chassis harness that are near the fuse box in the engine compartment.
Im not sure what else is relevant but please ask if I didn't mention something. Thanks.

Why does it matter if the windows are rolled up or not for an engine install?

Anyway since there is no power in the car at all, check the main fuse! See if you get power to the main fuse if it's not blown.

I need the windows up if the car is going to sit outside the shop for a few days. Ill check all the fuses in the morning since I havnt checked them yet. Hopefully it will be that easy.

if worst comes to worst, trash bags and duct tape, as long as you trust the shop and they keep their customers cars in a secure location, id presume your trying to protect it from the elements?

duct tape + trashbags = good for the few days until the engines in. not like it matters if it looks like shit sitting in the shops lot.

This may be a silly question, but did you turn the ignition switch on?

The cars are just behind the building which is not visible from the street but it is not locked up area, so I don't trust it. Mostly elements but also minor theft. If someone is willing to steal a fog light cover from my other car worth $20 they will likely steal anything easily accessible.

Yes I did turn the key.

I checked every fuse and everything is fine.

I figured out that it was the two plugs that attach to the battery terminal. They were not attached so once I got the plugs cut off and got power to them everything worked.
