I personally have never seen a volvo turbo on the KA engine....but maybe I'm just blind...

SOHC or DOHC?

For the money you can spend to drop in a stock SR you can mod your KA to make more power, and its cooler IMO b/c everydamnbody drops in an SR.

I've seen a KA turbo mani from SSautochrome that allows you to use SR I/C piping and downpipe when you use a T2 (T25....T28)series turbo

wow i still remember the year 1992 clearly too man u make me feel old

blah blah blah will it fit, there is no will it fit, its can you find the right manifold with the correct flange on it for that turbo any turbo will fit
well i'mma help you out since no body ever helped me with my KA

KA24DET SETUP:
8:5.1 compression pistons if u wanna bost over 6-7PSI
SAFC <-A MUST!(get this if u don't wanna replace the ecu)
RevHard 240SX Turbo ManiFold (T4 Flange(or any other type of manifold i don't see SSAutoCrome KA manis no more))
Turbo: WHATEVER U WANT if u use the rev hard manifold its a T4 Flange so find a turbo with a T4 Flange
(370 from a sr will be fine if u wanna do like 14LBs of boost it'll max out the injectors)
255 Walbro Fuel Pump High Pressure
WHATEVER BOV U want
Whatever Intercooler u want
Z32 MAS(not sure if u need this if u wanna boost low)

some other people also have done this they goto the junk yard and steal a turbo from a z32 and use that with a manifold not sure what type but hey why not sounds good, take the injectors some people use the fuel pump also

AceInHole had a Volvo turbo on his KA a while back. It's not a bad idea because the flange is very close to a T3 flange. From what i've heard, with minor modding, they can be bolted up to a T3 flange. Z31 turbos are T3 also and not a bad choice.

the 92 KA24DE is 8.6:1 already.
and the S-AFC is not a must. there are about 5 different ways to manage fuel.
And there are currently about 7-8 different KA manifolds out. Most of which have the same placement as the revhard. In other words.. shitty.
Injectors are not sized on amount of boost, they are sized on output. 14psi on a t04e will produce much more power than a td04 from a volvo.
Z32 MAF isn't necessary for a low boost setup.

Do a search for "volvo turbo" and I bet you'll turn up some of aceinhole's old posts about it.

this really isn't a reason not to turbo your s14. I know several guys that have been pushing 350hp for 3-4 years with their s14's at around 13-15psi. The s14 has better pistons than the s13.

stock compression 14 psi?

sykikchimp
05-10-2004, 01:18 PM
yeah. Aceinhole is running 300 ft lb on stock bottom end. Ty Yapp is around ~330last I heard? There are at lease 2-3 others with 350+ on stock bottom end. I've read of a few guys pushing past 400 on stock bottom end, but they aren't usually around for very long.

S14 has Hypereutectic pistons, and piston oil squirters. S13 has neither. It has been in the past the opinion of most that the s14 KA is a little stronger than the S13 KA.

FYI, the S13 KA's do have oil squirters...I've opened three of them ('91 blown up race motor, '92 block donor for new race motor and another '92). All of them had piston oil squirters...a couple were missing/shredded in the blown motor though. :)

My biggest fear with more power would be rods. I've already put a rod through the block on two motors...one race car one street car.

Are the rods any different from S13 to S14?

I'm willing to bet that's a typo in the SOCAL faq.

I wouldn't doubt it, but 3 sepereate nissan written brochures with 8.6:1? 91, 92, 93 all say 8.6:1.. I'm gonna check my fsm tonight.

TBreu - good to know.. I think the lack of oil squirters was something that people used to spread around on FA.
