We can't even take care of the planet we live on let alone the life on it.. Now people are spreading to another planet haha. (Sorry couldn't hold it back)
It is cool to think of though
this the same people that are planning the flight around mars here shortly?
I heard a few months back a couple was going to take a 500+ day trip to go to mars and slingshot around it and come home. They said if it was a success they would try and land on the planet from what I read it was only possibly certain times every xx years due to mars being closest to our planet at the time.

that would be tough, but would be cool to go down in history or some shit.

Not like Mars would be any better...
there WAS water on mars.

So its like Earth...after it died/dies.

Do not want. Also might need a 4x4 just to drive around, no way you can take your 'stanced' ride out there.

Nope! Couldn't do it. It would be boring as fuck after the excitment wore off. Which to me would be on the eight month flight there (or how ever long it takes). Then what happens if you are that last one to survive? Why not move to the moon? So much easier! You can get there in a few days and be able to come back if you don't like it and you can see earth from there.

Is this really possible? - Mars One (http://www.mars-one.com/en/mission/is-this-really-possible)

So, they are basing this all on what technology is available now. In 10yrs when things have changed will they redesign or just shoot a 10yr old spacecraft to mars?

Its a trip, but maybe just outside of our lifetime, Mars exploration may be successful by than. I mean we could still be in the hay day of space exploration, compared to say 100 years from now be in the star wars /star trek reality lol

One way ticket to mars, you know if you get there successfully, maybe they will send up a few more people. Give me something to keep entertained and socialized (internet, facebook, tv) it might not be soo bad, but i gotta be down on my luck (like being sentenced to prison for life) to want to go up there lol . Snowden would be a good candidate, dude pretty much already gave up his rights lol

Mars might be interesting once it is populated, but we may never see that.

Once they perfect a time effective trip to travel to and back, I would go just to experience it. To live, I don't think I could go and leave. To live encased in a pressurized "dome" feels like a gerbil in a ball.

I've seen too many movies, played too many video games for me to think this'll go down well.

next thing you know everybody dies and I have to go there with laser guided handheld weapons and chop aliens to pieces. NO THANKS, I'm staying on this planet.

Personally i would never go to mars for any reason...The only thing i hope, is that Tom Cruise dosent go and come back as a cloned army, hell bent on taking over our planet whilst being controlled by a computer mind "something" that sounds like a GLADOS gone country....WORST APOCALYPSE EVER....

Considering the space craft we use now date back to the late 1960s....
