does anyone know what rb, sr, ka, and ca stands for?

They're just the series titles of the engine. I don't think there's any code to them or anything.

if the d is for the cams how come the KA24E isnt a KA24SE for single cam?

cuz before dual overhaed cams was invented.. they didnt really think to call their cams single overhead cams...
they just specified engine by family, displacement, and fuel injection or not,c uz the sohc was prolyl standard
after dohc got better researched and stuff, d was added as a tag to specify dohc...

i mean u dont see corollas driving around being called the "corolla N" for normal corrolla and "corrolla -S" for the type-s
just the corrolla with the S

I've read that RB stands for Race Bred. Sounds right, but I'm not sure.

they're engine series just like ur compaq monitor might be part of the 1200 series or something of that nature. i haven't heard actual names for the engine series. just rumors like race bred and street raced.
