Hi, I know many people have had issues with this turbo oil feed port being stripped. I got this block used and never realized that it was stripped there until I was installing the turbo lines. So I decided that I would helicoil it, I drilled it out and tapped it, that went just fine but upon trying to install the helicoil it doesn't want to go in easily, and if i give it any force the tang will bend. I got the helicoil kit from a co-worker, the first couple threads on the helicoil install tool were kinda messed up and I'm kind of thinking this is the problem as the helicoil begins to constrict the install tool is binding it up and stopping it from going further into the threads. The thing I don't get is that a thread chaser/restorer will go over the install tool with ease, but it is definately fucked up. The kit is meant for M12x1.25. I am in dire need of help, I'm nearing the end of my rebuild and this is a shitty speed bump.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Drill it out and tap it for a bigger thread.

If you use aluminum fitting , you can solder it to seal it. Or you can weld aluminum fitting on it. To drill it , you have to tear your block apart.

^^^^ Recommend the two things already listed.

1)Tap and die to a bigger banjo bolt and fitting. This is a terrible process though, finding the right sizes is incredibly difficult.

2)The best possible answer I can give you is to buy an aluminum -AN fitting and have it welded on to the block. A quick fix since the motor is already out of the car, and it will ensure that you never, ever, run into this problem again.

P.S. make sure you flush the oil feed hole to rid yourself of any shavings

To me, the threads in the hole don't look that bad; like you may be able to clean them up gently with a tap and be GTG. Just make sure to clean the threads up on the banjo bolt as well.

If that doesn't work, you can always tap the hole for a 'whatever to -4 AN fitting' and ditch the banjo bolt altogether.

Lucky for you, the motor is not in the car. This means that you can rotate it to where the majority of the shavings will fall to the floor instead of get into that nice fresh rebuild.
