How much does it cost to build a computer? I can build it myself. It has to be reliable and can stay online over night. How much how much how much?!

I need a new computer cause my current comp was malfunctioning and I got really really violent with it( theres a hole in the front, broken floppy drive, and the metal panel that covers the top and side is all bent up.). Help?? Donations can help me alot :x:

Depends on how massive you want it. A good net computer can be built for a few hundred. A decent gaming computer can be built for anywhere from 500-1k+ plus. My g.f. built mine for about 800 with some extra stuff like a case with a window and some lighting. Specs are as follows if I remember right.

Asus board
Athlon 2100
512 Corsair ram
80g h.d.
Asus cd rom
Asus burner
Nvidia geforce vid card
Antec case.

I've built a few for customers but I don't do it anymore. Whenever I do the math it always ends up costing more than getting a pre-configured bargain machine. I mean, the local guys I use have p4 rigs that start around 300 bux. ADM or Celerons start around $250. Even if I got all the parts for free, it'd cost me more than $250 in time to put it together and configured.

I think thats about it, you can build somthing simular for cheaper if you leave out the DVD-RW and just use your old drives (CD & Floppy) from the bashed computer.

But um... ya my computer likes to reboot during games n shit. I think its the Video card... or the fact that I built it... who know. I built the Zilvia server and its running solid :D
