SES light on after hose near exhaust broke.

Hello 240 people, I'm new here and I have a small problem. Before you flame me for not utilizing the search button let me explain my problem please. I just got a 98 kouki and i attempted drifting for the first time and some how, my tire(with plenty of tread) came off and knocked my wheelwell, which in turn broke a hose near a black box ,located near my rear passenger side wheel.

A friend of mine told me that the hose that broke went to the EGR. I thought that the 1997-1998 240s got rid of the EGR box? Or is this the AIV? Please help...

What did you type in for searching.... "why is my check engine light on?" You have to first get a scanner and get the code then you search, then you would get your answer. Also that's not your "egr box" that's your evap system you should fix that see if it gose away before wast people time asking is there something wrong with my car I don't know was it is???? :' (

you probably have an EVAP leak code and the black box is an Evap or charcoal canister

It's the charcoal canister, thanks guys. I did look it up drift86 lol, been searching for awhile. I was about to go to my nissan dealer to look up the part and code but they were closed. thanks for the help. I'll put lube on next time I ask a question here
