Hey, just curious as to whether the 200sx in LHD format continued on after 1998, or are you guys in the UK, AU, and NZ in the same boat as us in north america?

Just hit me. . never seen a LHD S15.

UK AU and NZ are all RHD

i believe the s15 is going to go on sale in mainland europe, if it isnt already? in which case, it'll be LHD. I'm sure there are some LHD s15's produced for racing series, but not sure about street cars. ever watch WRC races? all the cars are LHD, even the lancer EVO's.

Don't know about mainland europe but here in the UK we can still by the S14 new, we can't get the S15 from Nissan it's self, but importers sell them. They don't cost much too, saw a 99' s15 for 12,000 pounds (about $20,000)

There is no S15 200SX yet. Only ones in england are imported silvias straight from japan.

I hear that the imported cars cost more to insure. How much i'm not sure. I'm in the military so I go through an insurance company available to us that is cheaper then what a regular person would pay so I could'nt tell you what the insurance would be, Dave2u has a S14 though he could tell you.

USAF

is the USAF really the life? ive been considering military service now for a while, as i dont really have any particular aspirations or goals in life right now. i'd like the idea of being stationed somewhere foreign, with no living costs, and plenty of money to spend on hobbies in my spare time. I also hear the USAF will treat you well and throw money at you if you do well, because i scored at the top in all the stanine band tests a couple of years ago (its either 6 based or 9 based, i already forgot, and dont care to dig up that form right now).

ideally, could get stationed in japan and get an r32...do you actually get a pick of where you go? and do you get a whole lot of free time (normally, other than the recent events and war in afghanistan) to pursue hobbies and your car? I notice you post a whole lot on here, so you must get a good bit of off-time, unless its just for thanksgiving.

First i'll tackle your "do they station you were u want" question. They do not, in basic training you make out a "wish list" and they "try" to get you to one of those bases, if you pick oversea's bases you most likely will get them. If you don't get a oversea's base no worry, in Tech school (were u learn your actual job) you can trade other people for there base. Now for your question is the USAF really the life? Well matters what carrear field you go into, i'm in the computer field (net administration) so I work a normal schedule, normally 7:30 to 4:30, Monday through Friday, so I have loads of free time. What do you mean throw money at you? I signed for 4 years and got a $1,000 sign on bonus if I signed for 6 I would have gotten $7,000 and would be a E-3, for my carrear field my re-enlistment bonus would be $50,000 if I re-enlist for 6 more years  You ussually get alot of chances for free training and of course college classes aer free, and $20,000 is available through the GI Bill for after you get out. As for being treated well, this isn't the Army, I live by myself in a New dorm room and only share a bathroom and kitchen, they take care of you better then any branch from what I have seen. By the sounds of it, it seems like should look into it.

i was curious to hear firsthand from someone who has actually come into the USAF and seems to have the same some of the same things in mind.

about throwing money, i was talking to someone who said their brother was going in, and he had scored really well on his stanine band tests. they generally want smart people rather than stupid people, it seems, and he said that they gave him better signing bonuses as an incentive, better terms, and first pick of field and stationing. this makes it look more attractive to me, since i did pretty good on standardized tests in highschool, and they always showed results in stanine bands as well. i would mostly like to do it because 1. i could find a job i really like (im a reasonably flexible person, im skilled with computers, have logged flight hours in the past, and other useful things such as deep sea diving), 2. alot of money on my hands with nothing immediate to spend it on (read: car), and 3. would like the chance to get to go live in japan for a while. sounds like you really enjoy the service?

It really doesn't work like that. Each job has a certain bonus that they give for a certain amount of years. The only test that they use are the AFVAT (armed forces vocational aptatude test) If you do good on that then you are eligable for any job you want. Now that I think about, I have a real easy life No fear of being fired, a job that could turn into a good paying job on the outside. I would only come in under the computer field, but thats me (my job code is 3C0X1, if your ever serious) Personally I would love it, if I was stationed near my home, I did'nt want to go oversea's. But if you want to live oversea's this is the way to go.
