View Full Version : Who do you think would win?

I was just wondering who would win in a race (assumeing the cars were stock, 5 speed and the drivers had equal skill) the eclipse(best model), the integra (type r), or the 240sx(s14)?

the itr.

The Eclipse GSX and USDM ITR run about equal around 15 flat. The 240SX runs a good 7-9 tenths slower. They aren't the fastest when it comes to straight line.

i say eclipse GS-T racing a type r, already moving at a decent speed the eclipse would win. but in the quarter mile, i think the type r would win against a GS-T or GSX.

Actually, the GSX would most likely get the holeshot from a standstill b/c of the AWD...and the ITR would catch up as it hit's it peak hp after VTEC engages. And I thought the GST was slower than the GSX...is that right or wrong?

09-19-2001, 12:48 PM
i belive the gs-t is faster .... and i believe that the gs-t would win...... the gsx would tie and the type r would be close if not the same as the eclipse...... now if we auto cross the eclipse would be last the type r first and the 240 second

Would'nt the GSX be faster then the GS-T? The GSX is all wheel drive and the GS-T is only front wheel drive. Mitshubishi would'nt make the top off the line GSX slower then the cheaper GS-T. Why am I arguing over an eclipse ?

Under the thread entitled "accelerating a convertible", started by yours truly, there's a link to a huge list of 0-60 times and quarter-mile sprints. Since all of those numbers are representative of stock-condition cars, it should give you a pretty good idea who'd win.

I suppose I should've just gone and fetched that link to move it here, but, uhm, sorry 'bout that .. I didn't.

Eclipse GSX

GST is only front wheel drive, so more power gets to the wheel, rather then the all wheel drive where you gotta distribute all the horses to 4 wheels. So GST over an GSX. And besides, I'd pick my 240 over an Eclipse any day. Especially over a GSX. Wouldn't own a Mitsu AWD if you paid me. Our cars are much more capable, or so I think.

cool. i was going to explain, but you did that for me. in the quarter mile, a gsx would beat a gst, but from a rolling start the gst would eventually win. they're the same horsepower.

IMO... ITR will probably be best course car..as for 0-60 straight line then yeah..not too big on the drag scene

Well, i know this is not fair but hey...nissan power right. Since everybody else gets to use their top model, then we should get to as well. Can you say s15? I think that will beat the itr and the eclipse... hands down.

LanceS13
09-19-2001, 10:03 PM
But guess what we can't get in the U.S.
Can you say S15?

true...but you cant stop a guy from dreamin' about one.
P.S. I know that its not available in the us...thats why i said that it was not fair to compare jdm to usdm.

I know...I just felt like making that point.:cheesy:
I wish we did get the Silvia S15.....or the EVO VII, WRX Sti, R-34 GTR, JDM ITR................:(

09-20-2001, 07:32 AM
WRX Sti is coming to the US in 2003 for the 2004 year model. I can't wait!!!! I love that car now... Imagine it with a 13.0 sec 1/4 mile capability, bigger turbo, better tranny.... ahh... Anyway, umm... I'd much rather spend extra 5 grand and do some motor work plus get a lil' turbie thingy on my car before I'd buy any of the cars we listed above.

Has anyone seen the hard-topped Silvia convertible? The roof retracts like an SLK's. I so f'n need that car, and I need it now.

#### the Pacific Ocean. #### it to ####.

The first person to get that thing out of Japan and into New Jersey will be my new best friend. =)

Ok, I'm back to edit some more. I just found a link with a press release regarding this blessed announcement...

http://www.freshalloy.com/cars/nissan/varietta/varietta.html

I should probably start a new thread altogether.

GSX runs about 5 or 6 tenths of a second slower than a GST.

PS: that Silvia looks dope.

I've seen a couple of place with times for the GSX and GST. In one they both run 15.1, in another the GSX runs 14.9 and the GST runs 15 flat. The AWD GSX gets the wholeshot, but the lighter GST starts to catch up further down the track and they end up being about even.

I was close, I guess. I dunno, internet is like a bathroom wall, get all kinds of info all over the place. Some true, some false.

my buddies got a 99 gst and he had a 98 gst, never lost really lost, WRX gave him a run, but his car wasnt at peak performance then, then he totaled it twice.

still, i think that most people dont have the balls for all out racing on the streets. just me and him
