VG30E= 160 or 165HP
VG30ET= 200 or 205HP

how are both of these engines are they good or would it be better to go with the dett swap that i have seen around and if i do such a swap how much more weight is that going to put on the front of the car, i really do not want to throw the ratio off too much

####, what a coincidence...i actually just read something about the weight of the VG30ET...

240sx.org said that it weighs 500-550 lbs (check out the site's FAQ if u want the exact num...thats around 200-250 lbs more than either the SR or the KA. if ur gonna sacrifice that much handling, u might as well go for the TT and have more potential and power for less money spent in the end.

im guessing he means swapping into a z31? swapping a vg engine of any kind into an s13 or s14 would be pretty stupid, other than for show or maybe drag purposes. the S12-200sx on the other hand, would be cool with a vg30dett, considering that the 200sx SE hatch came vg30et. the vg30dett SHOULD drop right in, if im not mistaken.

yeah i wanted to drop it in my s13 but i do not want to sacrifice the handling of my car, i knew it weighted more but was not sure on the exanct amount and 200 to 220 is quite a bit, the only other deal i am left with is building a KA and putting turbo and a nitrous shot on it or buying the SR, in either case i would end up building both engines the only advantage to the SR is i already would have the turbo, but the KA with turbo is prob teh way i will go.

rb20DET or rb25DET would overall cost alot less than having a vg engine put in, because of the higher level of fabrication required. for an rb20 or rb25, all that is neccessary to do is piping and wiring, while with a VG30 you'll need new mounts, some subframe modifications, and piping, and wiring would be much more of a hassle. rb20det and rb25det can make the same power as the vg30dett without much trouble at all. unstable-hybrids has done both of these swaps, im sure that joel would tell you to go with the RB, himself, as well.

I'd believe it... that's known to be a #### of a powerplant.

I agree with HaloZ. The RB20DET does'nt stand a chance against the VG30DETT so I'll go straight to the RB25DET. The RB25 just doesn't add up to the VG30 mod to mod or in total HP your able to extract from it, don't be *blinded* by the fact that it's a RB25DET engine out of a skyline, there not quite up to the VG30DETT.

maybe if the rb25 was modded with a huge single but not stock to stock. i would still go with a built sr20 over the rb20 anyday. lighter and a bit more ideal

problem still remains that if i put a vg30dett that i am screwed as far as throwing of the weight ratio, unless anyone else has heard diff and it really does not screw with it to much, someone posted a site with a VG swap and it did not seem like to much but if lose the handling i am not sure i want it which leads back to a built KA with big turbo and big ass shot of nitrous, i would like to do this over an SR really to be diff.
