Working on my car the other day and I had to remove the pipe that comes off the turbo going to the intercooler. Anyway, I noticed a black greasy residue on the inside of the pipe. Is this normal?
EDIT: got to thinking.. could this be caused by the oil coming from the valve cover? since I'm using the factory oil catch can and the hose that goes into the intake hose? know what I'm talking about?

Depends on how much, if its a little like u said, "residue" its ok, now if u got like liquid oil where its not just residue then u got a problem.

Cool. I wasn't sure. So is this residue coming from the valve cover like I was thinking? Been thinking about putting in a aftermarket catch can and caping off the intake pipe anyway. I guess I should do it and then I'll find out for sure....

Residue: it happens, product of compressed heated air coming from an exhaust/driven turbine, some will eek through... Now if you have an oily/liquidy sludge in there, then you may wanna investigate further...
