Ive searched high and low, cant find any info if there is an upper timing tensioner gasket for the KA24de. Removed my tensioner, but there was no RTV or gasket.
Thanks!

No gasket. Just bolt on.

Seems like it isn't holding pressure. Generally I can never get the dizzy rotor to perfectly face spark plug #1. I can only get the distributor perfectly aligned when I add tension to the upper chain using a screwdriver.
However once started I have to nearly advance the dizzy all the way to reach 20*, doesn't make sense unless the chain was flapping around--Lower chain tensioner maybe?
Double checked lower chain to make sure it didn't skip any teeth-- That checks out.
Not sure what prevents oil pressure from going around the tensioner if there is no gasket there.

Check the tensioner to make sure it is good. If you replaced it recently, then move on. To align dizzy. Set crank at TDC of compression. Remove valve cover. Insert dizzy and looked down the head to make sure marks on dizzy align. Then you are golden.

done that over 1000 times, every possible combination, somethings off by a hair. only thing i notice now is my lower chain/crank pulley can move about 10 degrees of play before it moves the idler....moving the crank pulley just compresses the lower tensioner. stretched timing chain? or does it sound like its off a tooth on the bottom....

Having same problem. Check the freeze plug on top of tension. It may have popped off if so we had same problem. If its new aftermarket more than likely the same problem.
