4.0's in HS and college or HS dropout. How did you do/are you doing? I haven't been going much this year (HS) and I'm failing 2 of my 3 classes. 11 years was enough, I'm sick of it now.

Better get used to that 240 you are driving. Haha.

BTW: left high school with ged in sophmore year and in college with 3.7 gpa (im too lazy to get the 4.0)

left HS in 11th grade. got my GED scored 11/12 with only studying the mandatory 1 month, went to community college for math and computer sciences (about to go back for web design, and maybe more math) and i've had good paying jobs. and i'm more educated than a lot of people i know that graduated. i did great when i came to shop class, electronics class, that engine rebuild class, and welding. if i had the motivation i had back then, i would have been a good high school student.

Do either one of you regret quitting? I'm prolly gona bust my ass the 2nd half of the year or something, I don't really think I should dropout. My parents would let me, we've talked about it but I dono. "its not that i'm lazy, bob, its that i just don't care"office space

in Sophomore year with a 3.275 I think something like that. haven't gotten final semester report just yet. my parents give me that whole "You can do better than this" lecture. but the way I see it, is if I'm happy with it, then they'll have to live with it. I want a 3.5 or better, but if I get above a 3.0, I'll live!!

i;m canadian so grade point averages mean shit-all to me.

i'm pullen like 75+, so i guess thats like a 3.0, but i'll beat that by a bit. plus i'm in the 3rd best comprehensive university in Canada. so maybe its okay

Heh...Nismo, you should drop Purdue and go to IUPUI. I flunked out of IU my first semester and have been pulling 3.5-3.8 at IUPUI ever since. I put in about the same effort at both schools...IUPUI gets you the Purdue diploma without the Purdue classload or difficulty.

I graduated highschool with an exact 2.0 average
I did exactly what I needed to do to get the diploma and NOTHING else LOL

I think I ended up like 3.something in tech school and got a 2yr degree in electronics.... I never want to go back. It is bad to say that but I had no life for 2 years while in tech school. Going to school 8am-12noon 5 days a week, and working 3rd shift 11pm-7am every night SUCKED!

School rocks IMO. I will continue going to school long after I get my PHD or whatever I decide to get. I feel so braindead when I am not constantly challenging myslef. Maybe I will just get an insanely hard job...

I'm in my third year of college. I attend Baruch (u probably never heard of it but sadly it is located like less than a mile from where the twin towers were hit on september 11) I graduated HS in an honors society with 3.0 ave. and I have averaged 3.0 throughout my college classes but this semester I was kind of stunned by 9/11/01 so i might just end up with one or two C's and some B's. Don't let these grades fool you, I'm a dumbass when it comes to fixing cars, I guess my dream job would be an accountant working for nissan? I'm much better at math

HS was a breeze...4.0 (99.8 out of 100) Valedictorian fairly easily I might add...of course, there were only 52 in the graduating class.
Currently a first semester sophomore in Chemical Engineering at MSU....and it's significantly harder than HS....absolutely no comparison. But I'm still managing a 3.8 gpa which will probably drop to a 3.6-3.7 after finals.

Graduated high school with a 2.5 GPA, or something close to that. Second year now in an art/film college, majoring in Computer & Video Imaging, but GE classes are still required. Dropped out of math twice already (and it was just "College Algebra") because I was failing it. RARGH! Can't stand math... >_< Why the #### does an art college have three required math classes?! I won't even be doing any programming! Anyway, other than that, it's a nice little boring school. Cogswell (http://www.cogswell.edu)

Yeah...actually I'm thinking of doing that too. My friend was pissed after he found out his boss at his new job got a Purdue engineering degree from IUPUI and didn't have to take a bunch of tough courses that he did. I may do that and get a degree there, then find somethin' else to do. Perhaps get a business/mgmt degree and open up my own shop.

arrgh i fucking hate school and everything about it, i think its partially because im stuck in a god damned catholic school and i dont have much of a choice about leaving it, other than getting expelled, in which case i would get sent off to a military school or something. I ust cant stand school. my sister had a 4.0GPA and dropped out her sophomore year, so i dont think my mom would be very cool about me dropping out. I would really rather have a GED or do a homeschool type thing and work than be in school. it's not that im an idiot, i've always scored top 99th percentile on all standardized tests (Except this year, i feel asleep during them, that happened in 7th grade, too), i just hate school, and i dont like doing school work, and on top of that i have a chronic migraine problem which makes me miss school alot lately. I dont know...im just sick of school. 11 years of it is way too much for me, too, and it's still over 2 years more because i failed a year way back (laziness problem, starting puberty, i dont know what the fuck was up with that year). i HAVE been looking into the airforce alot lately though...I dont mind situations like that really, i just dont like going to school every damned day.

Graduated from high school with a 2.7 in 1999. Then the next semester I started going to the Academy of Art College and I'm still there. I'm majoring in computer art/new media. I'm sitting at a 2.5-2.7 again. However, I'm getting B's in all of my classes except for basic marketing, which I'm failing if I don't get my ass in gear and do my marketing research project. I'll eventually need everyone's help on the board to answer a marketing survey on the Nissan aftermarket whenever I get down to putting it together.

that movie rules. "if you could just go ahead make sure you do that for now on that would be greeeeeat"
the only hard part about quitting school are the first couple years. you think, ok i'm going to start over, get a good job and work hard. you got your motiviation going, then you go for and interview and explain why you quit school, then try and convice them how you've changed and you're ready to get your life going. it's annoying, because they WILL ask you why you quit school too. but if you get your GED, it shows you are definitely trying. i had a problem with a certain uncle about my 'dropping out', he used to give me a lot of shit. i sometimes have dreams of going back to school, even though i've been out of HS since 97, and i go to college for a few classes. i can't say it was the best decision, or the worst, but if you drop out, after a few years it will seem like you didn't even drop out, and jobs will be way easier to get.

I don't know whats wrong with you guys, High school was awesome, all I did was chill all day I graduated with a 2.87, scored a 1160 on the SAT (#### math section screwed me over > ) Was gonna go to a community college (could have probably gone to South Florida but never applied or had scholarships for it) but decided the Community College would have been like a 13th and 14th grade instead of a real college so I went military. I'm alittle under half way to a associates degree right now and will be able to resume taking classes around spring, so I can't be far off some type of college degree

highschool was awesome! i could have passed but it would have taken me a year and a half because i either skipped or i just didn't do work my last year. i had a lot of fun, but i just don't know what was wrong with me at the time. i actually enjoy learning now. community college is so different than school.

If you're talking anything OTHER than college.. then of course, you stick with it. Shit, I've never really enjoyed ALL my classes.. but I rolled with it until I hit college. That was when things soon changed..

High school is a joke.. its so easy to glide by. Personally, I enjoy classes where the teachers are nice and polite, and interesting, and keep YOU intersted.. no one wants to be in a class that SUCKS. But in high-school, you end up dicking around most of the time.. so who cares? So many giiiiiiirls in high-school! :) I had fun..

College.. completely different. If you are a lazy person, then stick with it.. because school will be your only ambition and keep you somewhat motivated, rather than playing video games / fucking around. If you are NOT lazy, you'll notice that you'll have bigger and better things to do.. more productive. I already had my consulting business right out of high-school.. 3 years into Community College I opened ClearCorners.Com and soon found out that my time was very precious. After 2 more years I quit and followed my entrepreneur lifestyle.

If you're going for a corporate lifestyle or medical, then you'll need a degree.. its as simple as that. A degree will keep YOU from not having a job. No degree usually means no job. (just not in todays market, thats all!) :)

If you want to persue the self-employed lifestyle.. and you feel your business(es) are lifting off.. then follow your dream.

Personally, I had a 2.5 or 3.2 in High-school and college.. cant remember.. but I wasnt a great student. I flew through classes like History, Psychology, English, stuff like that.. I bombed in classes like Chem, Math, Physics, etc. I just DONT do homework.. I've always felt, after 1 LONG DAY of school.. why the fuck should I do MORE work? Its MY life.. I can kickback.

I still follow that beleif. When my day is done at 5PM.. I try to kick work to the side and enjoy my life a little. If you work all day and all night, you are left with shit. I'm still a work-a-holic.. but I take my rest when needed.

- Mike

Pro-school here. I got bored with school my fresh/soph years and screwed up a bit, but finished my last two with near a 4.0. Application!! It's not hard, you just have to be willing to do it for a while. College a U MD (go Terps - both 'em) phi beta kappa/honors. Law school at GW (top 25). Yeah - it keeps getting harder!

I've had a lot of friends drop at different stages along the way b/c they were tired of it or didn't want to work enough to get through. From this, I can say that the general rule is that the longer you stay in, the better off you are in the long run. Dropping is a big decision and one that will follow you for the rest of your life. Make sure that you are willing to accept what ever comes from it before you do anything about it.
