Painting a Turbo Exhaust Housing

I would like to paint my turbo exhaust housing to try and prevent rusting. I know very little about painting. Most of the high temp paint contain ceramic. The label reads bake paint for so long. I do not have the ability to bake it because the turbo is assembled. Anyone have any tips or suggests. I was thinking masking it and using bbq paint. I know its "ghetto". Again, I know very little about painting.

I don't know if they make a paint that can handle those kind of temps. Your best bet is ceramic coating as that can withstand temps up to 2000 degrees

Take it to a paint and powder coat shop and have them spray it with turbo-x or ceramakrome. $60 and its done right. And also the exhaust housing comes off the turbo so you can paint it fyi.

There should be about 6 bolts that hold the ex. housing to the CHRA. Remove them and carefully remove your housing. You can bake the "paint" in a house hold oven, but prepare yourself for the fumes that will ensue.

Bead blast or wire brush the housing you have. Wipe it down extremely well with acetone/lacquer thinner/wax, tar, grease removed and apply your coating once the cleaning agent evaporates.

If you take the turbo off you'll need to order a new turbo to manifold gasket, and a new manifold to head gasket, both of which you can get at your local dealer or from a Zilvia forum supporter like Enjuku or 240sxMotoring or similar.

Turbo to manifold is the same as the Z32 one
Manifold to head, use one from a b15 sentra with a 2.0. They have a MLS steel one much like the s15 one.
