Hey guys, I know ANOTHER 1jz charging issue thread...

I've been doing research on the forums and have found some problems that sound like mine but no final reviews on what has happened in the end to correct them...

Anyways to the issue at hand.

Car ran great for 2 years pulled it apart to re do the engine bay paint etc... and moved my engine bay fuse box from under the hood to the glove box, while doing this I deleted some wiring for useless relays for air bags, abs, stuff I wasn't going to be using.

Got the car all back together and haven't been getting any charge to the battery... Checked over the wiring last night and all the wires are connected properly at the soldered connections no grounding out at all. I have the "oval" type 3 wire plug on my alternator.

Car starts and runs off of battery when jumped for a little bit then drops off and starts to loose power cause of voltage drop to the coils etc...

The heavy black wire from the post on the alternator goes to the fuse box "originally from the engine fuse box now in car"

Green/yellow wire connect to the small red/white wire

Yellow/black wire connect to the yellow wire from fuse box (7.5amp alt fuse)

white/blue wire connected to the black and red

Any help would be awesome, never had a charging issue before motor was pulled... Can't see it being the alternator after just sitting in the shop while it was out... No bearing noise or rough sound coming from the alt at all...

Thanks again, ready to blow my brains out :rl:

This happened to my friend make sure your alt. wires are ran to the fusebox and connect to pos like they are supposed to and you may need a larger alternator as my friend did. You might be able to overdrive it too?

i run my large alternator wire directly to a dist. block that come from the battery. i run another wire from the same dist. block to my starter. i relocated my fuse box to my trunk and run the big white/red wire from that into another dist. block leading to the battery as well.

after you have the large cable wiring down then really just make sure that the wire going to the alt oval plug for ign is turning on and off with the car and it will supply you with power. if that doesn't work then you might have something fried in the alt such as the voltage regulator another internal component might be not operating normally.

Running into the same issue on my 2JZGTE swap. I cant seem to get an answer on which wires go where. The S14 I bought had a 2j previously but had the wrong plug "round style" so I have to change it to the oval plug which I found and bought.

When I went to remove the oval plug I noticed that only two wires were connected...

My car ran PERFECT, before the motor was pulled so its clearly a wiring issue... gotta start the dig tonite :(

you are connecting a large gauge cable from the battery to the alternator lug post, right?

after that all you have to do is connect the yellow "IG" wire (middle pin) to a relay or signal that turns on when the ignition is on and it will run correctly. you can also connect the yellow/green wire to the dash indicator although in the pic i think yours is missing.

the other cable alt "s" is supposed to also get a connection to 12v+ when the car is running although my car runs just fine and regulates voltage correctly with or without it being connected.

the same goes for you.

check for a good connection from point to point on the large gauge cable and then connect that middle pin to a wire that turns on and off with ignition (test it) and then that's it, you're done. if that doesn't work then try to get the alternator tested, especially if it's old they can just go out on you sometimes for no good reason.
