ive had an mr2 for about 7 years and wanted a 240 for the longest time ( probably 4 to 5 years) i came across this car and id like to know what you experts think of it. its a 97 Black SE, 44k miles (original engine) it has a HKS super dragger exhaust, greddy header, and injen intake. it has the usual door dings. hes wants 10,000 for it. is that too high or reasonable?

its worth what the buyer is willing to pay for it. if you wanted a 240 for the longest time, heres your chance.

If it's a 5 speed and 10,000 was the blue book value for it then yes. So do a search for kelley's blue book and check it out.

10000 sounded kind of high to me but what do I know I looked up the kelly blue book for you and it came out to 7800 for excellent condition those mods don't add up to 2200 hundered dollars It would not be worth it to me buuuut...to each his own.

5 spd SE's in '97 are rare, i'd pay 10 for that easily

i think 10grand a lil steep, how about you bargain, id say 8-9k is a good price for it. imho

mine was an auto whte 98 with about 70k miles. but the body was in very good condition. i paid 9200. something like that. i would say i have spent about 350-400 on the 5spd swap. this does not include the clutch and flywheel. all the 5spd swap parts were new except for the driveshaft, ecu and trans. my friend got a 97 wirh 55k for 8000.

good luck.

you sound like a car guy, the car was a great deal but however, the miles should concern you too much if you plan on doing what most of the 240sx guys do, which is an SR20DET engine swap.... they car can have 400,000 miles but with a great chassy and it is 1/2 the price then i would buy that. a stock 240sx doesnt have a great sexy appeal in my opinion (dont flame me, i love the 240sx) but it needs to modified from its stock form... need an engine swap, some tiens coilovers, and maybe a front lip and side skirts.........

sooo in my opinion, just decide what you want to do with this car... if your car is just a daily driver than you cant go wrong with that price, but if you want some fun then pass on it and find something else
S14s are like $5000-7500 on average for avg miles.........

240s are way overpriced. 8000 tops for that car.... 6000 because its an auto.

wtf? chassies get fatigue stressed over time too... mileage means a lot.

yeah he's right. too high. i would never pay that. but then again there are people that pay 3k for an S13, and i would never pay over, say, $1000 for an S13. do what you want, it's your money, but if it were me, i'd keep looking. not worth it. i bought my S14 for $4500 in really good condition, and he ^ bought his for $3500 in even better condition. for $10k you could build yourself a really nice car.

yes 240s are overpriced but no way a clean 97 s14a is going to be worth 6000 only, especially since its got super super low mileage. around here that car is easily 7-8k. 10k is a complete ripoff, however. 10k is beyond the price for a '98 5spd. i guess it depends on how bad you want it. depending on your area you may not see another 97-98 for sale for quite a while.

6000 would be a good find but 10 grand for an auto? that is too much. just wait and keep checking the classifed im sure you will see one much cheaper
