I found my charging system a couple days ago charging at 10.3 volts and would not start the next morning, replaced the alternator with a autozone lifetime warranty alternator (because the previous owner already had the warranty so why buy a new one). After replacing the alternator i had a reading of 13.9v. I drove it home and sometimes hen i press on the brakes or activate my turn indicator my radio will die. now my alternator is back at 11.9. any advice?
p.s. aftermarket radio, wiring for the radio checks out good and it worked before the alternator was replaced.

Autozone alternators are hit or miss. Sometimes they even lack some of the failsafe features of an oem unit. I went through roughly 6 of them before I had the proper voltage without sag. Nowadays I get oem for that specific item. Or rebuild the original unit.

^^ I agree. I had to go through 4 already until I got one that worked properly.

Step 1: Remove Autozone alternator
Step 2: throw it in the trash
Don't put Vatozone shit on your car...

The small ground wire bolts to the back of the alternator case near the electrical connectors.

double check your alternator connections, sometimes people don't plug in the "push" in clip all the way or forget to tighten the power or ground, and check the MAIN fuse for corrosion and other fuses for corrosion, clean terminals, double check battery

SO IF ANYONE IS LOOKING AT THIS A COUPLE YEARS FROM NOW HERE IS WHAT HAPPENED. i GOT A SHITTY ALTERNATOR THAT WAS PRODUCING A LOW VOLTAGE READING. NO MORE AUTOZONE ALTERNATORS, I WENT OE AND FOUND OPUT THAT IF YOU HAVE ANY ACCESORIES ON IT YOU SHOULD ROCK THE 90 AMP ALTERNATOR INSTEAD OF THE 80 AMP

the s13 has the 80amp and the s14 has the 90amp,guess its a hit or miss with the autozone stuff
