ok so I had a question about how I would recirc my bov because mine is on the cold pipe so does that mean I need to run a long hose to the other side after the maf ? or can I just run a hose back into the cold pipe and then the air would still be read right? any help would be awesome. thanx

all air after maf is metered, so you would want to recirc it after the maf but before turbo.... if you recirculate it after the turbo you defeat the purpose of the bov....

or you can go to a map setup like me and not have to recirculate it at all....

+1 on the map sensor, there is a reason so many honduhs run a GM 3bar map for high boost

so I should put my bov on the hot pipe? that is gonna blow

I've always had my bov on the hot pipe with no problems and recirculated as well. Should just keep it where it's at cause it's cool

I like it on the cold pipe but I want it recirculatrqd for better performance and gas mileage lol

yup. mine is on cold pipe as well. have a 90 deg bend into a long hose running below radiator, into pre-turbo pipe. works beautifully

sweet thanx man ... my concern was the fact that my hose would be way to big but it looks like u just put some kind of addapter in between the hoses right?

If you have an sr you won't have to run it that far.

what about just running a blow thru set up? wouldn't I just have to move my maf to the other side?

don't do a blow through set-up.... its better to leave it stock or do a map/IAT sensor...

ill just recirculate I guess I already cut the bell off my bov anyways

ok so u finally got around to doing this and now I have a lot of compressor surge and it seems this pop off alot more I thought recirculating it would fix these issues not make them worse?

important question is how much PSI are you at when you get surge? if its only in vacuum or 1-2lb it's fine. i made a thread a few weeks ago cause it scared me a bit to. as for it popping off, idk use better clamps lol

my thread: http://zilvia.net/f/tech-talk/519805-turbo-flutter-should-i-worried.html

basically you only have to worry if you're getting surge at 5psi or more

when I say poping off I mean like backfire and it fluttered at full boost

if anything you should WANT the blow off valve on the hot pipe, the whole purpose of any recirculating / blow off valve is to eliminate surge on the turbo... if you could mount the blow off valve on the turbo compressor it self, that would be the optimal placement really..

you don't have it recirc'd properly then. either that or your BoV spring is stiffer than it should be and the boost you're pushing isn't enough to open it. what spring rate is your bov at?

No, The best place is closest to the throttle body, the most convenient place is the hot pipe. At least for s13 SR's and No bov CA's or if you buy a kit that tells you where the BOV goes!

Funny how turbo builder now incorporates a recirculated BOV in the turbo flange itself, eh ?

Seriously though, it does not matter where the dump is, put it wherever it is convenient.

I know right, but I have a stance on this argument. And it's the cold side throttle body., Stand for something, or fall for anything!

Bypass valves belong as close to the compressor as possible.

I'm not sure on the spring rate but I put a washer in to make it stiffer so should I just take it back out and loosen up the bov its self? as for being recirculated right it is 2 hoeses one bigger one comin off the bov then a reducer into a smaller hose into the intake pipe right after the maf.

if you're getting nothing but compressor surge it's because the air's not flowing properly. either its leaking somewhere or the spring is so stiff the boost you're pushing isn't opening it.
