Sup guys I just bought my 1991 bone stock ka24 dohc 2.4 liter automatic and it sounds like a dump truck whn accelerating any reasons why?


Note:I've had people tell me its an exhaust leak or the biggass fans .

maybe cuz its a truck motor.

most likely its the clutch fan.

Actually posts like this need a PROPER description of the problem. "My 240 sounds like a truck", WTF does that even mean??? I don't think even Google would know what to do with that...

Clutch fan is bye bye and it sounds like a truck probably because the KA is a truck motor.

seriously I kind of want to see this now:(

i was actually considering putting a chevy 4 cylinder diesel in my 240 for a while so i could roll coal on diesel truck guys just to make them angry. oh and get lots of mpgs. then i decided to build it.

I personally loved my single cam truck motor for some odd reason when i still had it in the car, probably because it burnt oil and was in no way fulling functioning but still ran great and reliable and made grumpy noises and cost next to nothing to maintain.

Not original its already been done.

And why do diesel guys say rolling coal? You are not burning coal so it is not emissions from the combustions of coal coming out the tailpipe. I guess rolling crude does not sound as cool.

you know I was super excited to see that and then I did......too big an engine for the car I was thinking more one of those sweet mercedes straight 6's. went to a junkyard looking for a control arm once and the place had 3 or so of those things. would have interesting and probably would actually fit in the car.

oh well, dare to dream. just like my fantasy 4 rotor FD :(

ya i never understood that, maybe they want to be train conductors. i was just using their expression. Plus my heavy diesel mechanic friend told me that when they produce lots of black smoke they arent actually tuned right and its like some asshole with a stock import running a big ass exhaust, its not doing anything productive.
