Is it throwing a check engine light? Could be the temp sensor/wire going to the temp sensor/or gauge itself.

hmmm... i also have a question about my car but with the speed cluster.

I drive a 93' s13 coupe that has a vq swap with the tranny and welded diff. I was told to just get a j30 diff and put it in the welded diff? and a new cluster and it should work. The diff is 4 bolts to the frame and 4 to the driveline. Also i dont really need to have the welded diff since its daily driven and i also dont want to buy new tires every 4-6 months. I also dont know a lot about this stuff because i just am now getting into 240s so i know there are a lot of you guys with experience. :D

Your issue is totally different from the original poster's. You may want to start your own thread and not jack this guy's post.

Use the SEARCH function here on Zilvia to find & download a FACTORY SERVICE MANUAL, (FSM), for your model year S13.

Temperature gauges are a pretty simple item on the 240sx. It's either the Engine Temperature Sensor on the block, the wire that runs from the sensor to the temperature gauge on the dash, or the temperature gauge on the dash itself. You'll need the FSM along with a volt/ohm meter and/or a continuity tester. If you follow the procedures written in the FSM on how to test the sensor, wires & temperature gauge you should be able to figure out what component died and needs fixing. It's a pretty simple & easy fix IF you know what you are doing. The temperature gauge on my 95 S14 was dead when I bought it. After changing out the Engine Temperature Sensor & testing the wire that goes from the sensor to the temperature gauge in the dash with a continuity tester, I was able to determine that it was the gauge itself that went bad. After replacing the gauge, I can now read if the motor is running hot or cold.

Anyhow, hope this helps. Good luck with the repair.
