I'm not sure if its the starter or the actual ignition or the ignition switch? What happens is il put the key in turn it all the way to start it and it wont start so then i turn it again to start it and then it will start im confused as to what would be causing this? any suggestions will help thanks guys/girls
p.s iv have new plugs, wires and battery so i know there not the problem
Any cracks on your battery terminals? Does it crank at all when it doesnt want to start?

My car does this and so does my Dads Jeep. I turn the key to on so it primes my fuel pump then start it and it fires up every time. I don't really see it as a problem to just wait a second before starting the car.

Is this car a manual or auto? If its a manual was it converted? When you turn the key for the first time does the car crank over just not fire up? If the car doesnt even turn it would seem to be a starter or a relay problem or an ignition switch. If the it does crank then your problem is fuel/air/spark related.

Starting problems can be due to many reasons. Could be the starter itself, the starter relay or the ignition switch module. You'll have to use your FACTORY SERVICE MANUAL for your 95 S14 to locate & test all the components on your starting system - manual or auto transmission - to find out what the actual problem is with your starting system.
One of the problems that often gets overlooked by Zilvia members here is the Ignition Switch module. It's easy to locate, test & fix if it is the actual problem. Pull the steering cover off & locate the ignition switch module opposite the side where you put the key into the ignition switch. Unscrew the ignition switch module, http://www.rockauto.com/getimage/getimage.php?imagekey=933072&imageurl=http%3A//www.rockauto.com/info/Airtex/1S6350.jpg (it's held in with two phillip's head screws), & test it with a voltage / continuity tester / multimeter. Pay particular attention to the START position when you are testing the module. Even though the rest of the other positions, (AC & ON), may function as normal, the START position can short out leaving you with the starting problems you may be experiencing now.
Anyhow, hope this helps.

So it goes into accessory mode but then doesn't start? I have the same problem in my S13. If this is the case that I just mentioned, it's the ignition switch -_-

go to walmart or az they should have a battery tester that checks for starters cranking volts, if that is good try tapping on the stater when you are trying to turn the key.
