Hey Guys, ok I just wanted to update you all on my search on getting my 240. Well I have found a 1997 240sx SE Black with 55K. I will be going to see it this Weekend to go see it (hopfully it will still be there) He is asking $11,800 for it. I'm going to see if I can get it down to $9800 what do you guys think? I had a carfax run on the car and that came out clean. I would like to know what I should look for?

1. Any problems that I should know about?
2. How should the car handle?
3. Is the Gear box smooth? (I have heard they are notchy)

Any thing else I should know before I go and see it?

i dont know what to tell you about everything else, but good luck getting him below 10k, hes asking a reasonable price if its in very good condition.

let us know how it works out. the only s14a's i've found for sale around here were on dealer's lots, so they were pretty expensive. oh well...just gotta keep looking, and be patient

Dude, even at 11k, that's a steal. I've found S14b's for around $13-16k. x_X Then again, I live in California, go fig. Good luck man. It sounds SWEET.

i'd offer him 11K. even at 11.8 that pretty good. the gearbox is fairly smooth when stock.
things you can use to bargain:

-major service at 60K costs $500
-check for a rusty muffler
-check for small oil leaks (really the only thing that should concern you)
-if its the original clutch, it may be time for a new one

i used all 4, and gor the price dropped over $2000 cdn

if i was you, i wouldnt wait for the weekend. i found a 98 SE, waited till saturday morning, but it was gone. a guy paid cash on friday afternoon. it was only in the paper on thursday, and the next day it was gone. remember, 97-98s are really popular

yeah, going down 2k, might be hard, i'm surprised i got the guy to go down 1500 on my car. but i would definitely go for that, my fav. color, n it's low miles. the 240 better go to u n not another person that won't appreciate a 240 n leave it stock its whole life.

hey, i love the ppl that leave it stock. more choices for my next car. i'd never buy a pre-souped up car
