that is my friends project, he is still working on it and it is coming along good. i took those pictures above, thats when he first got it done. he is also looking into an aftermarket bumper, but the hard part is that you have to cut everything to fit. it looks better in person than in the pictures

Yeah yeah.. thats what they always say. In my honest and loving opinion, I think it looks putred. And in person, I would want to slit my wrists.

The 280ZX and the Z31 300ZX were the ugliest of ALL Z's. That is why that 240Z conversion looks GOOD and this one well, doesnt.

Dont take my pessimistic post the wrong way, its nothing personal.. just let your friend know that he needs to do a LOT more work before I would ever say anything good about that car. It appears like its daily driven.

the only thing i dont like about it is the hood, he could lower it down but he would need to cut it again. he is still deciding on what to do. he accomplished what he wanted though, not just being another white coupe at drift days.

making a car look different requires MORE work. AND, if you want something cheaper/less expensive, why not just pickup a 280ZX.. they're in the junkyards by the boat-loads.. and you know what, they'll actually look better.

Its one thing to say "its in the works" but come on man, that car just looks bastardized. Its just wrong in TOO many ways.

I agree, the 280z front end is bleh, if it was a 240z front end and it was put together better, might look decent. But conversons are not for the budget drifter.

I used to be a budget drifter.. for like 2 years.. still kinda am, I used all stock stuff, had a Homedepot Garden trim lip, and a PVC intake for a while, tires I would get with damn near no tread and just pay tire places on the side to get them put on. Got my whole old suspention set up for 75$s, and got my LSD for 150 IIRC. This kid doesnt know what budget drifting is, the only front end converson any real budget drifter could do is chouki to Zenki bumper cuz they dont have enought cash to get the bumper of their same year and they have to get an old one, now THATS budget drifter..

Edit: HAH also budget drifting is not a SR20 swap, ahah with all the goodies, and a Kaaz LSD. Ive never seen 4k+ in parts for a swap "budget" If he has the money for that, why not do it right. Not bashing his unqui. -ness, but somtimes when your diffrent means your car is going to look like ass.

Very original, this is true, once its done, it could look great, nothing wrong with being original. But you cant expect a front end from a car from the easrly 80s will look good match with a car from the 90s. It just doesnt work like that. Well hey I want to be original why not just buy a coupe and throw a 510 front end on it. Its easy to be original, but its hard to be original and make it look good.

240z and 280z are the same chassis, people! They're both S30Z's... You're thinking of the 280zx, the later model, chassis code S130z.

the car in Japan used a S30 front your friend use a s130 front big difference there. Also I happen to think the car in Japan was odd looking too. Maybe its because I came from owning S30's and may own another one shortly. Fact is I just don't like the swap just like some people don't like the s15 front end swap. I just don't know how I feel about conversions, I totally think its cool to have style and everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I don't have a problem with OEM conversions USDM Coupe with a Silvia Face, but When people start doing wierd stuff its like they aren't happy with a 240SX and want it to be something else, and like Old_S13 said why not keep it what it is and thats a 240SX....But oh well. The headlights could look fine on there, but the hood is disgusting, its like 3 feet too long, gotta just replace the whole thing and go another route, because that doesnt work at all. its like seeing your brother wearing some fucked up clothing, dont you want him to look good? sure, you can say who cares.. but people who DO care try to educate others as to what works and what does.

sure, you can say its subjective.. but unfortunately, there are certain things that just LOOK GOOD. I've already stated it above, you dont need to know about cars.. you just have to have an eye for things that are beautiful. Its quite obvious that the setup he has DOESNT work - this is clearly evident from the gaps and angles that DONT blend. Unlike, the 240Z/S13 which was carefully, tastefully, and delicately custom fabricated.

If the car is still in the works, then keep working.. I'm just saying, UNDERSTAND that its not finished and that it DOES look ugly. Its as if people dont have a sense of reality.
