1997 240sx LE kouki automatic white low miles

I have two 240’s. Both are clean chassis good for swaps, but one of them is such low miles you wouldn’t want to yet. My plan is to sell one, keep one. I don’t care which I’d be happy with either.

The first one is listed for sale already. basically identical to this car but a 95. same deal, just as nice. just more miles. I've been fixing it up and I would love to swap an S15 sr20 into it if I kept it thats exactly what I will do.

The second is simply a 1997 pearl white SE with 43k miles. It was one owner for most of it’s life. I do not want to sell it, but the car is just sitting in my father's backyard while I drive the other 240. Im afraid that sitting around is not doing it any good, so I feel that I have NO CHOICE but to offer it for sale here.

The only major flaw I have found so far is the rust in the sun roof. Everything else, from the OEM bellows on the tie rods, to the OEM bellows on the shocks, looks like it has 40k. The sway bar bushings (end links) look like they have 40k. the dash and carpet looks like it has 40k. The underside of the car is so clean I would really eat from the surface. The paint is original, has some chips/dents I consider minor.

The vin tags are in place, those things are precious because they indicate original body panels. (hood, fenders, doors, inner doors, front bumper, trunk)


Just looking at it you can tell there is little use of suspension components and interior wear. Typical door panel sagging and it even has some marker where somebody tried to color in a fading spot. Frame rails are superb or I wouldn’t have bought it no matter how many miles it had. Same with the headlights and “cut offs” they are straight and factory just like my other 240.

$price I have not decided yet. The odds of finding another one like this... well I am sure you know. this car is priceless somebody should put it into a museum. A collectible. Its got a clearly defined carfax service record showing the mileage every couple of years that matches the cluster today. I was extremely skeptical of the car when he told me 40k too. But everything, from the relays under the dash to the oem tie rod bellows checks out. they are clearly old- but there is low mileage so they are in one piece. look for yourself as I get more and more pictures. The carpet is amazing. It's even got the oem Velcro by the ECU kick panel. Its just incredible and it even smells new.

you might notice that as the pictures go on the car gets cleaner and cleaner, that's because I actively clean it every minute I have spare free. I spend as much time as I can with it, detailing every corner and oiling every nut and bolt because if I do wind up keeping it, I am going to drive it for 10 or more years.

there is a little water in the trunk in some of those pics because I was detailing the trunk area and using the hose to wash away dirt.
also you might notice I put some floor mats under the spare. that is to keep the spare tire from rubbing directly on the metal of the trunk.
One of the things I will do next is get under the car and wipe everything down with an oil base to clean and lubricate and preserve the metal.

I think I am keeping it to drive. the idea was never to re-sell it, you can't find a car like this twice. I wanted a reliable 97 for a daily- that was the plan. The only reason I put it up is because I have two 240's and I have no space for them here. But thats ok, I will send this white one to my father's house and it can sit while I drive the other one for as long as I want. Why put miles on it anyways?

To give an idea on price, a silver moss 98 LE was for sale for 12k with 60k mi give or take a few thousand miles. However that is a super rare color and it was factory 5spd and who knows what it actually went for, the only mod was some mesh wheels. This one I could sell for sale for around 10, maybe selling around 9. The surface rust and wreck kinda drop the value in my eyes but you cant beat an odometer with 43k. I'm sure you got it for dirt cheap and trying to make a big profit, I would do the same thing. good luck with the sale, beautiful car, looks identical to mine with 140k (very well taken care of).

lets play a game. Lets say you see a car for sale, a white kouki 97 SE like this one. but it has 150,000 miles typical. Ok great, the price is $6000. not bad if its never been hit and has no rust etc...
So then a magical fairly pops up and asks you "how much is your car insurance?" You reply "about $1000 per year". The fairy thinks for a minute, then says "tell you what Ill do. For every year of car insurance you pay me, I will take that entire years worth of miles off your vehicle." You pay the magical fairy $6000 and he removes 12,000 miles per year (total: 84,000 miles) from your car. Now it has 66,000 miles instead of 150,000.

Who here would drive their car for six years, 12,000 miles per year, pay $1000 per year of car insurance, and have the miles literally fall off their vehicle while they drive? Somebody paid car insurance on this vehicle without driving it much like having a magical fairy charge you to remove miles from your vehicle.

Its just my favorite model car, in the world. The possibilities are limitless.

I have a 5-speed sitting in the back yard. But there is no way I am going to take out the automatic. I prefer auto. I am sooo happy this is an auto car. its exactly what I was looking for. better.

After I drive it for 10 years, and it has a nice fat 130,000 miles or so, THEN I will install a clutch pedal and swap in an S15 sr20det six speed and drive it ANOTHER 130,000 miles for ANOTHER ten years. Someone could drive this car for 20+ years if they play the cards right.

Explains why the Model ID doesn't show that the car is an LE either, only that is has fog lamps/power moonroof (14th digit E). 6th digit says it's atleast an SE though.
