So yea. I have basic cable, with no cable box, and for some reason HBO comes in all fuzzy and scrambled. Now I'm trying to figure out how to remove this fuzzyness and scrambledness, but everywhere I've looked, I need an existing cable box.
If you get what I'm trying to say, please PM me.

Um, have you tried calling up your cable company and ordering HBO? :nono:

You cannot descramble channels without a cable box. Sheesh, kids these days.

It's not a kid thing.. its a broke college student thing. Guess I'll wait until I move and can use my satellite setup.

Thats the thing. Descramblers need a cable box to mate up to, from what I've seen. Anyone know of a way to get a descrambler w/o a cable box.

You are wrong. Most modern descramblers (if not all) are standalone units and need no cable box. I should know because, my friend owns one (Clearmax 2000) and I did lots of research in preparation to buy one before, the digital cable boom.

You find out what model box your cable provider uses and then find a compatible descramber.

Simple.

Ok. So how do I go about finding out what model box the cable company uses? I can't just call and ask what model they use for no reason...
