Im in the process of replacing my Crankshaft seal on my Redtop SR20DET. But I noticed this little metal wedge looking thing, (Like a half moon) What is it? I assume its needed but I don't know where it goes. I looked throught my FSM and found nothing in there regarding it.

there should be 2 of them on the front of your shaft, there are little cut outs for them on the shaft. they are to prevent your oil pump spacer and crank pully from spinning on the shaft... very important to reinstall...

do you know the part number for them, I only have one and I don't know if the other one is on the shaft, I looked at my spare SR and it doesn't look like it has them either... And its as easy as pulling the crank shaft pulley off and re-installing them right? Now all I need to do is find out what happened to the other one

There's only one on SR cranks. They are called wooddruff keys btw.

Also note... Its called a front main seal. The one on the back of the motor is called the rear main seal.
