hey, im trying to change my coilovers, however the bolt or nut on the botton where the strut connects to the wheels is on pretty damn tight... im afraid im gonna break my ratchet or even worse, the nut. If it were exhaust, i could prolly cut it but suspension... i can't afford for it to break. what do you guys think? use breaker bar?

those bolts are very tight for a reason.
get a breaker bar, and some PB Blaster, and bust it loose. If it breaks, you can buy bolts for it at Nissan.

Yes definately get a breaker bar. I couldn't get mine off without it. And be sure to use the correct size socket, 17mm if I recall. Dont use standard size ones or you might chance stripping it.

torque wrench
NEVER use a torque wrench as a breaker bar.

what is PB buster......
and I clean the head of the bolt with a wire brush from dirt so the wrench fits properly
soak with WD40
go eat supper
come back outside and put the wrench on and tap / hammer on it with a hammer till it loosens.

cause you'll tweak your calibration and possibly ruin your torque wrench. breaker bars are much cheaper than torque wrenches. :duh:

I have one of those $20 dollar impact wrenches that they sell at harborfreight, plugs into the cig lighter. Works great, id reccomendd for anyone who doesnt own a comrpessor, the thing has like 150 ft/lbs and is nice for working under the car, I havn't found a bolt on my car it couldn't get loose yet.

if u use a torque wrench as breaker bar, you can throw it out of calibration. been there, done that.

i usually just soak the area in pb blaster, then fit a wrench and knock it loose by tapping it with a hammer. you could heat it up too, just remember to get rid of excess pb or wd-40 if you are gonna use a torch.

PB blaster, 18" min flex bar, 18 mm ratchet, and a box end 18 mm wrench to hold the other side in place. Cracks it right off. impact gun would work too if you could fit it in there. I had one seize up once inside the spindle and I just took it to a machine shop to have it drilled out, they charged me like 10 bucks...
if you work on your car as much as I do its a good idea to chuck the factory bolts and replace them with stainless hardware anyway. they seize up too quick. if you do keep them use anti seize liberally.
