so i bought my s14 not running with a ka the guy said his mechanic had rebuild the engine but never turn back on,
so the problem is that its not sending any spark and its not sending fuel either
i checked all ignition fuses and relays they are all good they all click
now im confuse i checked my fuel pump and its not purging
i do hear a little noise.
now i dont know what could be it.
it does crank but does not spark.
also when i turn on the ignition i hear a clicking noise behind the engine i know that s14s have a crank sensor located on the bell housing and that could cause no spark but how would i check?
also i was thinking could be the computer that's probably fried
but than again everything is pretty confusing i would really appreciate any help.
thanks

make sure your ecu is fully connected...happens more than you think

So wait, you bought a car you don't know anything about?

Ok start with simple shit, battery, make sure it works. Then check you connections, clean your Mass AirFlow sensor (MAF) for shits and giggles while your around there, like above poster, check the ECU and make sure its getting power and works, find someone else with the same and swap with them. If they have the same problem its your ECU. If its not sending out spark take a look at the spark plugs, maybe a Cam Angle Sensor (CAS) in some cases

Did you check the starter before you bought it? If its a grinding noise check your starter.

Sounds like something electrical if everythings working, but your just not getting spark or fuel

If you can manage to get in contact with the mechanic who did the engine I'm sure he could give you some good information on it. however sometimes that's too much work.

battery works since it cranks also the starter works aswell (cranking) cant be the maf since it would still turn on but would run like shit spark plugs are good since there is no spark from the distributor CAS could be it since it wouldnt send info to the distributor.. but would not explain why the fuel is shutting off or not flowing at all.
i will check the ecu in the morning since the car is at my shop.

thanks alot ill have some feedback tomorrow.

any other causes though has anyone had this problem

Crank angle sensor wouldn't cause a no start issue on a 240. Could be your distributor is bad, cam angle sensor and coil are in the distributor, which could cause both your issues but a fried ecu could do the same. Check your wiring, a splice or cut could cause weird issues as well.

tow the car to my shop and ill fix it for cheap i have tow hookups also...usually something easy.. i have all the spare parts at my shop so i don't need to guess or charge u for parts u dont need..i get 2 or 3 cars like this every week.

Lol still havent solved it. I found the wiring harness was cut and re connected to other wires so now I'm looking for a wiring harness hopefully that solves it. Maybe they tried putting an alarm.
