I know what these things do, they are supposto make it so the ebrake does not lock. The question I have is how does this work, how does a simple knob change the locking mechinism?? I just was confused, hehe.

no dude, its a button you push that initiates a bad ass drift. As long as the button is held down, you will slide your ass out and you won't spin out. Its the magic button thats the key to the success of all the best drifters. it has nothing to do with your ebrake, silly people just think it does. Hell, you don't even have to yank the ebrake, just push the little button down. :)

I actually had Richard Tang install mine at DD5, it was crazy, he said he has the "magic touch", i didn't believe him. He was in and out and done in like 5 seconds. BAM, before i knew what he did. Mad skillz yo

^^^ and all that for $20!! for $20, you can have bad ass controlled drifts coming within 10mm of touching the wall..

ok seriously now, when you install it you take off some spring that keeps the ebrake button clicking. you can pull the ebrake up and down w/o it locking when its pulled up so you can use your ebrake continously at the track. when you need it to function as a normal ebrake just push the button up and it'll lock when you need to park.

Just bend the tabs and leave it as is. Hit the piece of shit until the knob pops out and hold it out as you lock the e-brake when you want to park. I didn't even put my boot back on. Just pull that shit out with my finger from below. Fuck paying $20 for a piece of shit drift knob. Either make your own or have a vendor throw it in with something else that you purchase for free.

nope

go homemade and dont spend the money
mine was free so might as well use it. i wouldnt actualy pay for one that, but that's just me. washer and a screw is all you need.

Is it really so hard to just push in the e-brake button?

when you are attempting to initiate a slide, its just one less thing to worry about.

can you give a quick description of how to rig the ebrake for the track. I guess you mentioned the parts needed but how do you rig it?

bend the tabs so the sping doesnt hold it. put the screw through the washer, screw it into the end of the E brake button.
DONE!

actually if anyone wants the easiest way to do it on a daily driver, this is my opinion, but...
go to an auto parts store. But a cotter pin, the kind that you can use for hood pins or ball joints, etc. drill a hole in your e brake with the butt depressed. shove the cotter pin in there. then it locks for track day and when you are daily driving the only difference is a tiny lil hole.

just hold down the buttom to drift and then just keep your finger on the buttom and drop the ebrake down before u let go of the button

You DON'T have to mess with ANY tabs or springs or ANYTHING!! You don't have to have ANYBODY ELSE install it for you!! You just push the button onto the top of your existing button. The friction of the button against the inside of the brake handle holds it in. Geesh guys...this AINT rocket science!!

I used a bottle cap, chewing gum, and some tape for mine.

Saw MacGuyver do it in episdoe 140, when he had to hot-wire a Corvette (with some hair and rice), then to get away from Murdoc (in a Camaro) he used his driving/drifting skills to confuse the fuck out of him and get away.

on neither of my cars has there been ANY friction with the knob and the ebrake lever. it would never stay in if i didnt take out the spring. i personally think youre crazy, and that thats much more dangerous than removing the spring.

MacGyver is the shit, he can do anything with his pocket knife, some rope, and gum. I saw the best episode where he asked some woman if she used fertilizer on her garden, she said yes, he said "good answer" and then proceeded to make a bomb. and in that same episode he make a plasma cutter out of a bike frame, aluminum shavings and rust. And i have tried that, and it works, (not as sucsessfull as MacGyver though) Well thanks for all of the imput on the drift knob guys!
