sr20 white smoke

okay so i recently started seeing hite smoke from my rear view mirror. and i noticed that it only happens when im at a red light or stop sign. i recently upgraded to a s15 spec r turbo that i bought from someone here.i checked my coolant level and it seems to be low but still not sure if its a bad headgasket or if its the turbo . any input ?anyone ?

Do a compression test. check cylinder pressures to see if their acceptable.

pressure test coolant system, does it lose pressure after 30 minutes to an hour?

block off turbo coolant lines and see if smoke contiunes..... but first.... check if theres a milkshake in your oil pan ;)

Okay so I added water to the radiator yesterday and the white smoke stopped . Mabey it was smoking because of low coolant ? I also ran into another problem. When I give it some gas while driving and boost once I stop car shuts off but if I drive normal and come to a stop it doesn't .. Any ideas

THIS will cause misfiring hesitation, and no the engine will NOT smoke because your coolant is low that has NO logical sense at all.

replicate problem and find out why it smokes. there is no suck thing as "it goes away" the problem hid it's self make the problem come back so you can properly fix it.

Take your radiator cap off and turn your car on and let it idle until it warms up. Hit the gas after a few minutes to make sure your coolant is flowing through the engine. If you see bubble forming or it starts to overheat while idling you're headgasket could be blown. White smoke is often the result of coolant burning in the combustion chamber.
