i have 215/40 on 8.5" and 215/45 on 9.5"

i dont have pictures yet but next time im going 205/40 for 8.5" and 215/40 for 9.5". if i were you, id go 205/40 for front 215/40 for rear..i guess it also depends on the type of tires you use too.

Different strokes for different folkes I guess. I hate stretched tires...that has to be the ugliest thing I've ever seen. Looks like the tires got knocked up. If you want pictures of other stretched tires check out the members rides at VWvortex.com...the VW owners love their stretched tires almost as much as each other. :ghey:

its all about the 215/40/17 on 17x9

or if your hardcore. 205/40/17 on 17x9

but 205 will have a tendancy to push more. anyways

here's mine
215/40/17 on 17x9 (front)
and 215/45/17 on 17x9 (rear)

stretched wheels are nice. Just don't try rough touge roads with them. (think super bouncy ball) hahaha

that looks a little dangerous what are the saftey issues with that. Just out of curiosity ??

safety wise
it depends on how crazy
mild stretch and insane stretch
ive seen vids of people's tires popping off but they usually hit the dirt sideways or drop a wheel on the track
daily driven, never had any issues. the only safety is probably hitting massive potholes continuously. not only can it cause cracking to a wheel (espeically a poorly made one) but might pop..but you shouldnt be runningstretched daily if you live in such area, you are asking for trouble

in so cali we just pick the roads. i know certain roads have poor maintenance so i avoid them. its not that bad as one would think. comfort wise? im used to it and my car was never 'comfortable' so that's not a issue whatsoever.

whats the point though?

I can see reduction in the roll factor from the reduced sidewall when racing/drifting, but on the daily driven road it'd only wear out faster.

or am i wrong?

you don't get maximum grip from tires that way either...

good for keeping slip angles low though.

i dont know how long they last
tires dont last more then 3 months anyways (fronts) and rears are usually replaced 2 times a month.

couldnt tell ya.

i also run toe in/out and some camber with that so dont last long as it is.

i think stretched tires are disgusting. wouldn't it be more of a test of skill for a driver to accomplish a good drift on good tires?

I read that stretching tires started in japan with 15" wheels because drifters wanted the performance of lower profile sidewalls but 15" tires were much cheaper and not commonly available at tire stores in low pro sizes. So they bought cheapo tires, and stretched them, to similuate lower profile sizes and to save cost.
However, I've also read from someone on this board, that it started in germany because tires can't stick out past wheel wells so guys with large wheels had to stretch so tires tucked.

yeah because its all about LOOKS :jerkit:

most people use good tires
most drifters use top quality and high(er) grip tires (depends on car setup and power and type of track/event)
