I have a fairly stock rb25 with an act 6-puck clutch with HD pressure plate. It has been driving good till about a month ago when I came to drive the car for work in the morning and noticed the clutch wouldn't fully disengage. I tried bleeding and adjusting the clutch but after driving for about 30min the problem comes back and it becomes difficult to put into gear. I noticed that when this problem occurs pumping the clutch pedal helps get into gear a little easier but when i come to a stop while keeping it in 1st with clutch pedal fully pressed it still feels like its riding the clutch a little. So i tried adjusting the clutch and adjusted nearly all the way out of the nut and it isn't really helping. I am lead to believe this might be caused by a bad slave or clutch master cylinder. BTW i have a stainless braided clutch line and the only rubber I have is the small piece that goes to the slave cylinder. Please help as this is my daily...

Do you still have the damper?
If so remove it! Regardless if it's the problem or not!
I just posted this in another thread....
Here is a link to the DIY

gay but it works
or get this fitting : http://www.clublexus.com/gallery/data//4250/smlBrakeUnion.JPG
hope this is it but if not your right, might be your clutch master and slave.
Good luck!

Yep, youve got a master/slave cylinder failure... What color is your fluid? You'll most likely have to replace either or both.

NO clutch damper. Do you think that the clutch master cylinder isnt able to support the HD pressure plate(clutch pedal is very hard) ? Is there any upgrade to the stock CMC and slave cylinder? btw I don't see any leaks, anyway to find out. Much appreciated for the help guys.

Most likely it's leaking inside the cylinders. Upgrade the slave cylinder to the Nismo unit, it's designed for HD clutches.

Well with that you also have the clutch fork and pivot ball too that can bend/ break.. not common but dose happen, if you didn't check them or change them out it might be something to look into.

I changed the pivot ball with an oem replacement from nissan but I really hope its not a fork, dropping the tranny is gonna be a pain in the butt. How can i check if its the fork or the pivot ball

The stock ball is kinda weak from what I've heard.
I just bought a Nismo one and gonna pick up another one just to keep it handy.
It's one of those parts that are cheap and you just don't want to break.
Really a bitch to replace...
Just move the fork around and use a flashlight to check it.
You should be able to tell.
There is a few threads on the subject if you just search.

I was thinking about what may be causing the problem and I remember that I used ATE super blue racing fluid in my clutch master cylinder and i am wondering if the fluid is eating away at the seals in the CMC?

Just checked my clutch fork and pivot and the look fine guess i got to start with the CMC since its cheaper and easier to get a hold of than a rb25 slave cylinder.

Well thats some good news the salve and master are alot easier to change than the ball and fork! LOL!
Super blue shouldn't have done anything to your set up, I've had friends run it for years with no problems.
I'm a Motul guy myself.
Ray over @ Welcome to The NISMO Shop - At West Covina Nissan (http://www.thenismoshop.com/) usually has RB stuff in stock if not it's only a 3 day wait for small stuff.
Try your local Nissan also and see if they have anything.
Spend the extra cash and upgrade to Nismo, not that much of a difference if you search for a good deal.

Alright so the problem came back and this time after a few minutes of driving the car slowly started riding the clutch even with the pedal pressed in all the way. It even got to the point of not being able to disengage the clutch. So I replaced the only thing left that affects the clutch engagement and disengagement the clutch slave cylinder with an oem one from Nissan and the problem is still there. I adjusted the clutch rod all the way out bled it 1000 times and even placed a spacer underneath the clutch petal bracket to no avail. Please help me as i am going to be starting a new job and i really need this car.

No pressure? Use that stuff you use for paint guns to seal the attachment from the air hose to the actual gun and that kind of looks like tape to seal your lines to the Master and slave to rule out leaks. Re bleed. Or that's what I would do first if you had no clutch pressure...

There are no visible leaks i checked all connections and no leaks brand new CMC and salve cylinder not even 10 miles on them.I tried adjusting the clutch pedal but it is still very low and i know everything is working because I can see the clutch fork is moving (about 1/2 inch). I tried elevating the bottom of the clutch pedal bracket so i can get more room to press the clutch pedal because before it would hit the floor before completely disengaging. I really dont know where to start. Can a bad clutch cause this problem?

Anyone any advice I searched and all I can find was info regarding leaky CMC's and slave cylinders but nothing that sounds like what I am encountering.

would a bad brake booster cause a problem like this?
highly doubt it, they are completely seperate components.

I found the
[email protected] problem. My heavy @ss clutch broke my clutch pedal bracket. Got pictures coming soon but the bracket is cracked down the side where the pedal pivots so every time I press in my clutch pedal I am actually bending in my broken clutch pedal bracket.

Damn, well at least you figured it out. Now you have some fresh clutch parts to last you a while!

Yup I'm thinking about bout buying one and reinforcing it with angle iron and small strips of steel and stitch welding all seems so there is no chance of failure. So all you guys with heavy clutches reinforce them or go aftermarket.

Well atleast you got it figured out!
jr_ss
05-14-2013, 03:19 PM
You could just pull yours and do the same. The Nismo unit from what I can tell just has more welds, not more material.

You can clearly see where it is cracked near the studs. As you can see the clutch pedal is still brand new.

Damn, well get a new nismo unit and hell get that one reinforced too! LOL!
Looks like you got a heavy foot there...
