So i finally got the HE's installed yesterday.... ride is kinda bouncy but like I read on some threads when i did a search i have to play around with the damping settings...... but my question is that i hear a sweaking noise coming from the rear's when hitting bumps and such..... Can anyone point me in the right direction of what might be causing this....
Thanks in advance
AL.
Possibly just the springs making noise. I think as long as you don't hear any clunking your fine.

No clunking noise coming from them.. only clunking noise i hear is from the rest of my car that needs to be retightened..... but the sqeaking is sorta loud... nothing that turning up the radio wont cure but still bothers me.

doesnt the squeeking stop once the springs have settled?

how long should i let them settle in before i take it to the alignment shop? and again does it really go away when they settle?
thanks

as far as i know, its not the springs. it will never go away but it will quiet down a lot after 2 weeks or so.

i dont have a problem with noises in my car....clunking and rattles are kool it comes with fixing up the car... i just wanted to make sure nothing is wrong with them.... and sqeeking compared to rattle and clunking is a little annoying... cant blame me for asking
thanks for your input and futher input.

i can hear a very faint squeeking on the Zeals. nothing like the Teins though.
what i DO hear a lot is the LSD. now that is one loud MOFO!

I always figured since HEs are more stiffly valved than what we were used to that the squeek was just shock rebound.

Well i'll go ahead and try to break them in for a week or so.... hopefully it will tone down

yeah yeswepromise has aftermarket LSD
its so nice. engages rude and tough. locks like a mofo!
I saw some spring coil wrap on pdmracing website. It supposedly quiets down the noise on the springs, but I don't know if it will help much because I haven't seen anyone give a review about it.
yeswepromise what do you drive now and are you still at csulb btw?

Well the sqeeking is coming from the upper rear strut mounts it seems since i can hear it when i am inside the car and not when i am out side of it.
Are you sure you torqued the nuts to spec for the upper mounts on the strut tower

you guys may be experiencing the same thing I was after installing after market suspension. I tried everything and couldn't figure it out but finally I tried this remove the metal trim around the base of rear window I think its like 6 to 8 phillips screws. underneath you will find 4 nylon clips which I believe are guides for installing a new window (because it was not resting on it) anway the two outer guides rub on the glass when you hit bumbs etc. thus causing the squeak. what I did was leaving them in place I used a razor blade and trimmed them down just a little (the tab touching glass) and woilla no more noise...sorry long hope it helps.
by the way mine is s14

Well today i turned the setting 2 click softer than what teins recommends and the sqeaking is softer now... actually now the ride is not ass bad as i thought it would because of what i read on some threads about how the HE's are a little to much for some folks... I think they are ok a little stiff and bumpy but hey what can u inspect... plus for those who live here in SF, you know how
[email protected]#*ed up our streets and roads are.

Word. I actually bought my set barely used from a guy in SF because he couldn't stand the ride on the messed up streets...

couple questions, i Just got my HE's put in.
is it okay to get a front wheel alignment after the coilovers are installed? or do i have to wait for the springs to settle or something?
Second
how do i get the front to lower more, i cant get the front(stock sized wheels) wheel to tuck haha

the squeak is caused by the rebound/compression of the pistons. The stiffer your setting the higher pitched it is. It doesnt go away.
The springs settle in about 2-6 months, in my case anyway. You just need to adjust the perches when they do.
To lower the front you have to change the height of the bottom mount. Your camber will change when you lower it.
Adjust the height and have it aligned immediately.
After that, enjoy and play with the settings. I set them for full stiff all the way around and then softened them one notch at a time until I had good street and track settings. you do not have to have the front and rear set for the same stiffness.

My friend had HEs on his car. Stiff and rode like crap. You're more likely to bounce yourself into a wall with those than hang corners. I would not ever want to drive those in SF. Flex is stiff enough for city roads. Plus, I like using street suspension for the street... That's what it's made for!

actually now that i got them broken in .. there is not that much noise and i am used to the stiff ride... on everyday driving i have them set to 2 cliks from softest and i like it... doesnt hurt the kidneys but still get good feed back from the road... and actually not all of SF is so fucked up... only downtown

I usually never drive downtown unless I absolutely have to. Even then I'll park in a parking lot and walk around most of the time. I take the MUNI sometimes even.
