View Full Version : CX Racing FMIC, nothing fits!

So I ordered the CX Racing FMIC "bolt on kit" (Item#:CXR-KIT015+IC0022-TF) for the s13 with SR20det swap. After spending 4 hours trying every possible configuration, even upside down, I gave up. None of the pipes fit, or even come close to fitting. The two coming off the intercooler are way too short and the charge pipe hits the inner fender. The IACV inlet on the cold pipe is way off too. Has anybody else ran into this problem?

Also, post a picture of what came in the kit.

Glad I'm your hero! And I ordered the fmic and piping separate from cx racing and the ic was a inch from the cold pipe and the hot pipe was blocking the upper rad hose. Very shitty piping. Just thought I'd throw my 2cents in.

Glad I'm not the only one with problems.

Mine was very simple. No problems at all with install and performance. All chinese products will always be hit and miss. You may be doing something wrong or it is extremely possible they sent you some wrong parts. Remember they probably have Mexicans working in the back illegally and Asians running the front offices. Huge language barrier. Not being offensive, this is true if you go to any of these companies the import Chinese made products.

I really think I got the piping for a s14 or a ka.
I kinda expected more out of CX Racing since they have become heavily involved in Formula D.

They are probably just paying some nice cash to get their name put on some cars

The stuff on those cars is probably alot better than what we get lol.

Only thing I ever bought from cx racing was a down pipe and a test pipe, no issues, 80 bucks for both new lol, but I wouldn't buy anything more than a piece of piping from a low rate company like that to be honest, same thing with god speed and ISIS although ISIS isn't all that bad most their stuff is decent

ive got the cx racing intercooler kit for my s14 and it fits friggin awesomely, also very well constructed as ive bashed it against the ground several times with no leaks.

Make sure you have good couplers/clamps and that you are routing it correctly, pics would help us help you too.

I've been running mine for 3 years with zero issues. I just picked up a Greddy core and plan on buying another set of CXRacing piping. I'd never buy some of their other parts like cranks and turbos, but their intercoolers and radiators have been proven to be more than adequate for stock to mildly upgraded motors.

Its piping... air flows through it... some shit you don't cheap out but stuff like this it really doesn't matter.

When it comes to "Fitment", then it does matter.

But I really haven seen or heard of that bad of fitment issue. Guess we will have to wait for the OP to post pics.

OK..

OP, you are an idiot for purchasing S14/15 IC kit for you Red top SR.

I googled it for the item # you posted (CXR-KIT015+IC0022-TF) and it shows that the kit you purchased is for S14 and S15 SR20.

No SHIT it doesn't fit..

The first link is the one he got, supposed to be for the s13 engine.
The second link is for s14/15 engines, but it has almost the same part number and shows up under the same search: KIT015-IC0022-TF-BOV009

This is why I asked for pics, so we could confirm this.

can you please stuff it in my garbage can? I need pipes...

HAHAHA

I haven't installed it yet but I bought the cxracing intercooler piping kit. It looks pretty good though everything is there and it shipped to Idaho within 3 days. Hope it fits! lol

make your own piping. That is what i had to do. But i am no where near stock as far as TB Turbo etc...

You buy Chinese parts, you get Chinese quality. These off brands usually fail during stressed situations. Like an R32 GTR with a Godspeed intercooler just balloon during a dyno run.

To answer your questions, just weld custom piping. It's not worth it to deal with these low-quality parts. Support JDM so they keep making us good stuff

what kind of pictures do you have of the pipes that don't fit? Ive installed there kit on a few different cars of mine and the only issues i ever had were not receiving any brackets and the bov being close to the upper radiator hose.

I guarantee this guy bought the wrong kit, either 14/15 or the universal one.

im just wondering what pipes you have all together.

this link is for the exact same fmic kit you have.

cxracing.com: FMIC Intercooler Kit S13/SR20DET 240SX 89-94,Tube & Fin Intercooler (http://www.cxracing.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=CXR&Product_Code=KIT015-IC0022-TF&Category_Code=)

it also says "Intercooler Kit For 89-94 Nissan 240SX S13 Chassis with S13 SR20DET Swap, Front Mount Intercooler Application. It also works with S14 Chassis with S13 SR20DET swap"

not only that the kit you ordered comes with a tube and fin designed intercooler. you should've gotten the bar and plate design.
