search on how to install,
there was a thread on what tools you need too recently,
spring compressor can be rented for free at certain pep boys/kragen/autozone, pick up the yellow pages and call

i also vote install yourself. it's not that hard... alot of people start out with spring shock installation to get confidence working on the car.

do it yourself. i have heard you can rent a spring compressor but my friend bought one for like 15 bucks. when i installed mine i didnt even use the compressor, i just compressed it by hand and had a friend screw on the top bolt quickly. the install is simple and straight forward.

It's super easy. Get some tools, or borrow some. They'll probably cost more than 100 dollars, but it will save you in the future.

renting spring compressor is free with deposit. do it yourself. It can be fun, lol =)

the first time it took me like 6 hours, about 2 years ago when i got my shock/springs

4 weeks ago i drove to San Diego, Grant and I swapped suspension in like 3 hours
the next day, i drove to Bakersfield, swapped suspension with Gene in like 2 hours. i swear, i know can get it down to 45 minutes on a cloudy day =p

I swapped out my suspension on my own too, but I did other stuff as well and I ran into problems. I have learned so much just from reading here and other places online and actually working on my car. If I ever encounter the same problems again I know what to do. The more experience you have working on your car the faster you get things done. It's fairly easy to swap out springs/shocks. If you have another set of hands you can finish it quicker too.

tools:
3/8" drive metric socket set, 3/8" ratchet
1/2" drive breaker bar, 18mm 1/2 socket (I buy craftsman 1/2" sockets cause I break them all the time and they replace them for free... )
Metric box end wrenches.
can of PB blaster
Torch
Ball peen hammer
Prybar.

Thats what I use when I take apart the suspenion on my piece of shit 89 240's...
so much rust, so little time.

what the hell you need an 18mm fir, typo? you need 17mm socket (two or a wrench)and 14mm socket, hammer at flathead screwdriver and a spring compressor. Just be sure to align the top mounts properly everything else is cake.

you really don't even need a spring compressor... just shoot it off! put a tire on top of the assembly and you'll be cool, i've done it many times. you only need a spring compressor if you are putting back your old stock springs.
