View Full Version : Internet Sales Tax: good bye $
Internet sales tax bill cruising through Senate; will soon hit roadblock in GOP-led House - The Washington Post (http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/senate-advances-internet-sales-tax-bill-but-final-vote-delayed-until-after-weeklong-vacation/2013/04/26/4e4c8e24-ae48-11e2-b240-9ef3a72c67cc_story.html)
Your build is gonna get a lot more expensive, this will pass, those politicians are drooling over the money "they can make" on this.

Or, just start buying from your local shops and vendors? Ya know, support the folks in your scene?
Or, just start buying from your local shops and vendors? Ya know, support the folks in your scene?
Point me to the shop in my local area and maybe I will, until then I will continue to buy from FRSport, enjuku and Touge Factory.
It is supposed to be waived on companies that sell under $1 million per year, I don't know where those companies stand, maybe they won't be affected.

How are the companies making under $1M supposed to compete

You do realize, that you are supposed to report out of state purchases and pay your state the local sales tax rate.
It's not free money to the government, its money you are required to pay, but no really does.
So now, because the government isn't enforcing it, they are gonna make FRSport learn all the tax codes of the places they ship too. Again, not sure how much in annual sales FR does but it is an example. Any companies on the bubble of $1M are gonna be in hard times figuring out what to do and competing against competitors just below the bubble.
They are doing it to be fair, which makes sense, but then why not require sales tax under $1M? If it was fair, they shouldn't require sales tax for local stores under the same amount.
At this point, I am obviously just ranting :P

Wonder if they would force online retailers to file taxes in all 50 states.

Better yet, if I'm stationed overseas and I paid the tax, who is it going to?

I don't know how this would ever work. It will just create more headache for companies. Our government just continues to make us more unattractive for new businesses to come in.

50 states is just the tip of the iceburg. Online retails will end up needing to know something like 9000 different tax districts or some shit due to counties and cities having different sales tax then the state they are in. Also with all those taxes it is something like 30%+ of your income is subject to taxes at one time or another

Citizens don't think they can change anything. If the majority were more eager to do something about it then they could.

Seeing as we went to war over something like 2% taxes and it created a country because of it, these 30% taxes are retarded.

Stop electing independently wealthy lawyers to congress. Every time they vote they vote in total ignorance. They aren't businessmen, accountants, or economists. They have no idea what the rules actually should be or the real world impact of what they push.
