contact your local radio shop, i think the shock sensor, and trunk release can be transferred over if the new alarm supports it

i asked the shop who did the install, but they told me they'll have to reinstall the whole thing and it gonna cost alot, i was like "wth?". B/c when i look at the alarms they have for show, the parts i got should be universal but the main brain/controller is different. any idea?

Swapping out the brain of an alarm system isn't a problem. It's trying to figure out which wires go where that is!! The current components that you have installed should work, BUT the place that installed your alarm may want to replace them because they cannot guarantee the condition of the components. How old are they? And since the place that installed your alarm probably used common colored wires, the technician wiring in the new brain has to figure out what common colored wire runs to what. That's where all the cost comes in...time consuming process of figuring what goes where. Most install places would just rather take all the old wires out & install new ones. It's easier on the technician but harder on your wallet!!!
Anyhow, hope this helps...

500 esp "looks" the same as the 550 but it is slightly different. It is definately different from the 791xv (and last years 790xv).
BUT if you already have door locks, and trunk release, the install shop should give you a break because those little things take time to wire up ( not much time but...time is money).
if you've fried your old 500 it'll be better if u get the old system ripped out and have the main stuff re-wired.
how much are they charging you anyways?
