ok i already posted for help, but havent had any luck yet. I wanted to try one more time before i take the car in......i have a 89 240sx with a 5 speed manual. i changed the master and slave cylinder, because my gears were acting up....i now have all five gears, and no reverse.....it doesnt grind at all, it just feels like something is blovking it...i cant get it in reverse when the car is on or off.....i read somewhere that there may be a lever on the transmission that doesnt allow you to go into reverse, as a safety feature....and maybe it is stuck and wont allow me to get it in that gear.....please help if you have had this problem or may know the answer....thanks

Take the tranny out, stand it on end, take the plate off inside the bell housing. Make sure the tranny is in neutral, under that plate you will see three rods, when the tranny is in neutral those rods should be flush with each other.

i wish it was that easy for me just to pop out the tranny i live at an apartment complex with a sketchy incline in my parking spot....i just didnt know if there was anything i could do to figure this out without taking out the tranny

Not really, if you have fifth gear, then it is probable the rev gear gone. I'd be looking for a new tranny.

6 years? remove the cover for the fuel pump (in the trunk, on the right side) and suck out as much fuel as possible, then get a full tank of fresh fuel.
