been having issues with my ka24de over heating, started off a few days ago when i noticed my temp gauge randomly change really fast from normal to hot then back down, then the next day it started by warming up slowly and any time i would go over 3000 rpm it would heat up and i would need to shut it off, changed the thermostat and fluid and it helped a bit, over heated less but came back after a day, ran compresion and carbon test, everything looked good, no air bubbles coming from rad when running but it does look like it isnt flowing correctly, so i dont think it would be a head gasket, also started see at random times my power steering would cut for some of the wheel rotation at times, going to put in a new water pump and flush out my cooling system again see if that works, anyone have any suggestions? thanks

one FREE and possible solution is to burp your cooling system.
usually this isnt needed unless youve recently done work to the cooling system (replaced water pump, similar) which allows air into the system.
but eh it can still happen i think.
you want to jack the nose of your car as high as safely possible and then run your coolant system (in neutral) with the rad cap removed. let the car get up to temp, let it run at temp for a while, then turn on your heater and fan as high as they go. if theres any air in the system this should help to expel it.

easiest way to properly bleed the system in my opinion...
drill a 1/4" or 3/16" hole in the stat... i usually just remove the jiggle valve, and then the rivet that holds the jiggle valve, and then a slightly larger bit takes care of opening it up.. that will allow any air to easily be pushed out of the system.. the thermostat wont block it.
saves an easy 30-45 minutes waiting for the stat to get hot enough to open..
and dont even think about using a "bleeder screw" on the intake manifold... that thing is total bullshit and will NEVER be able to bleed the system.

it might be your water pump

This is the best thing you can purchase when bleeding any cars cooling system properly.

^this.but just take an old milk jug and cut it to fit your rad...then duct tape around for the seal. Aslo i second the drilling out the thermo. 2 holes on top of thermostat and the jug on radiator and youll bleed like a champ. Sounds ghetto but done it for years on many cars...a free and surefire way to rule out air in system.

Exactly my thoughts after reading he replaced thermostat. Could be a blown HG as well. HG may not be extremely damaged but damaged enough to be causing problems such as this.
Does the fluid in the radiator cycle through or move around while car is running?

for indication of a blown head gasket, check your oil.
if water/coolant is in your oil, itll have a milky look, or in my case, the two were completely and distinguishably seperate.

I had similar issue before on my ka-T on heating problem. I replaced the thermostat, water pump and coolant. car runs smooth ,idle smooth but stutters on boost. temp goes high when you go fast. Oil was clean, no milky color and no smoke and I found out this after I did the pressure test....
