SC400 -> awesome cars!!!...i love them...expensive to mod or anything and only come in Auto..but oh well...i'd take one in a second and save save save to fix it up into a drift car...mmmmmmm yummy!!!

I nearly bought a nice black 96 sc300 auto for 10,000 can. 65,000 kms.
drove my friends sc400 as well. They are heavy cars. Once you drive one you realize they are not sporty at all. Personally I'd rather have a GS/LS or IS300.

However if you want to go nuts on one a 2jz swap will make it a very fun car. That or do what t and e did and strip it down, cage it etc etc

way back when i was looking for my next car i was checking sc300's for a while. they were slightly more expensive then 240s and basically had what i was looking for. rwd + 5spd. sc400 only comes in auto, no? that's the only reason i wouldn't get one. anyway i got an insurance quote for the sc300 and that pretty much killed any thoughts of ownership. check with ur insurance company first; they're pretty expensive.

yup...i worked for Lexus for 2 years when i lived in LA...Lexus of Beverly Hills baby!..lol...god, talk about snobs...

i actually got to drive one of the first 5spd IS300's...when they were only in the Sportcross version...then the sedan later in 5spd and the tiptronic..

i still say 215 hp and 218ft/lb of torque is underpowered when considering who they are competing against and what i would want to do with it...;)

now, when they release an IS430...mmmm baby!!!

those are the only two IS430s i know of

lexus needs to give it some balls, my friend who worked at lexus...he drives a supercharged mr2 and was complaining of the lack of power in that thing

if it wants to compete against the g35 and 3-series, it seriously needs like 250hp..or more...320...!!

dropping a 2JZ-GTE is also an easier job then putting an SR20DET into an S13/S14...AND the 2JZ is cheaper in price...HOWEVER...once any shop sees you with a lexus and knows your plans...they're gonna assume you have a phat pocket along with that lexus and tear you a new one....

it is a Supra chassis so all Supra brakes, suspension and all that good stuff bolts on
mine I have kept it simple all it really has is rims, Daizen sway bars, Daizen control arm bushings, and Supra TT brakes

it weighs 3600lbs for my SC400 its really not that heavy and with the sway bars it hangs on turns damn well and the brakes haul it down from 120 with ease

I love my SC, I want to sell it only to buy a '99 or 2000 SC4- the last year they were made

not to mention it is reliable as hell and girls drop their chonis when they see it :D ehehe

SC400 nice cars EXPENSIVE to maintain. my ex has one and its on its way to becoming a money pit. still drives and rides nice as chit though. i rocked it to new orleans for mardi gras back in feb. heavy but its got some legs under it. but yeah parts are never in stock for it and are expensive. not alot out there aftermarket last time I looked but a good choice. hers is a 93.

Depending on the price, I'd pick it up.

Preferably though, I'd go with a 300. You can find those in stick. Then do the 2jz motor, cage it, suspension, etc.

They're right though... those Toyotas are heavy cars, but power options are endless with that motor.

you may not agree with the wheels, they are Carlsson 1/6 18x8.5 bored out to fit the Lexus bolt pattern- and they're chrome but If I can find a set of Supra TT wheels I'd toss em in
