Well i have a s15 Spec-R, 6-speed, i bought it 3 years ago, just before i bought it it had a new clutch fitted.

so the clutch went a few weeks ago and im putting in a Exedy clutch there is a problem tho.

i got a 6 speed release bearing with the kit, but its diffrent to what came out of it...

During the swap i damaged the Release sleeve and ordered a 6speed sleeve from nissan but it was diffrent to what cam e out of the car,

It turns out that it had a s14 5speed Flywheel and release sleeve fitted when the clutch last changed,

now i have no idea if i should put the same Release sleeve back in again or put the proper 6 speed sleeve back in?

there is a 10mm difference between the two shoulders, the new 6-speed sleeve has the Bearing sitting 10mm further back from the Clutch than the old 5 speed one that came out... can i put the 6 speed sleeve in and what diffrence will 10mm make?

here is a picture old 5 speed sleve on the Right, new 6-speed sleeve on the Left

Can i use the new 6speed sleeve and bearing even tho it sits back 10mm from where the old sleeve and bearing was sitting?

Is the thowout bearing any different? Does the clutch sit out further between the 2?

This belongs in the tech section not here in chat.

Well, do you still have the original throw out bearing? As long as the combined thickness of the new carrier and TOB is the same as what you had before, it should be good to go.

thanks for the replies guys, the clutch sits out the same distance as before it dosnt stick out any further, the throwout bearing is slightly larger in diamiter, but it is not any thicker than the bearing that came off,

i talked to a mechanic today who said that it should be ok just that my clutch will engague sooner on the peddle...

I would be more concerned that the clutch fork doesn't have a flange to hold it in place during movement, unless you have a different spring or clip to go along with it?

^^ from the looks of the picture, the retainer springs mount the same on both in order to keep it secured to the fork.

And the ears are at the same point from the looks of it...

Press new throwout on S15 sleeve and then press the other 2 together. Look at them then and go from there.

Hmm, what about pressing the bearing installing it into the transmission with the slave cylinder (not sure if this is an option for you). Then you can try and measure the clearance from a non-engaged position from the bearing to the clutch forks. (Shot in the dark).

Id assume that if you match the 6-Speed clutch, flywheel and throwout assembly you should be fine.
