Battery overcharging?

Ok so I have an sr'd hatch with the 125 amp quest alt upgrade. My battery is relocated to the trunk with 2ot copper cable. The car is also stripped with no stereo, a/c, or power anything(so no load is applied except for essentials). When I start the car and remove the positive terminal from that batt it stays running and gives me 15.7 volts dc at idle. Is it possible to run too much to the battery and over charge it? Or can I just run a stronger batt that can handle the juice?

You can overcharge. Sometimes the diodes in the alt fry and allow too much voltage to go to the battery.

Double check your connection into the alternator. The 2 pin plug into the alternator is used as a reference for the alternator to regulate the voltage. If its not seeing the voltage in to itself, itll push over over 14-15 V. You'll start frying shit in the car if you are over charging. I've had somebody blow a battery for an example, literally explode while he was driving.

Yeah I've had one at work come in. The alternator was charging at 18v and the battery was about to explodes. Couldn't even touch it and the sulfur smell had everyone almost puking.
