I had a short shifter installed in my 92 coupe se and now there is a "buzzing" noise coming from the shifter area. I followed the directions and RTV the shifter and now there is a loud buzzing noise from 1st-3 gear. Could that be the tranny churning?:picardfp:

my apologies. I have the noise between 1,2,3 gears and then i shift to 4th and it stops. It sounds like transmission noises. Is there a way to block out that noise besides turning the radio up?

the b&m shifter makes noise. Tell everyone its because you have a race car. Mine is most loud in 4th

Does the B&M shifter come with the metal bushing on the shifter?

after doing more research, I am convinced i have a B&M version 2 short shifter. Is it common with this version that i should be hearing the transmission turning in the cabin? Its a loud whinning that wasnt there when i had the stock short shifter. This is not a rattling noise at high rpms.. this is between 2-3k?

I can't hear it over the sounds of how awesome I am.
Or maybe that's just the exhaust/spool... ;)

yes i hear mine and i have a b&m. freaked me out at first too, thought my trans fluid leaked out because i also replaced the fluid with synthetic at the time of install. Its loudest when i forget to remove my hand from the knob, like resting it on the shifter. other than that its no biggy. i usually crank up the jams and my sub makes it hard to hear anything really

Same here with an ISIS shifter, and Nismo mounts. I thought the tranny was F***ed up. Turns out it is what it does.
