View Full Version : Who Owns The Very Last S14 Produced?
KiLLeR2001
04-12-2013, 06:47 PM
The last '98 S14 240sx produced is a black SE model, build date of 05/98, manual transmission with fogs and a moonroof, front lip and rear spoiler. ABS + VLSD. CAL. emissions. VIN#: JN1AS44D4WW107998
So who is the lucky winner?
edit:
Very first S14 240sx produced... JN1AS44D0SW-000005
The very first S14 240sx was produced 02/94. SE model. M/T transmission, cruise control and auto door locks.
Although the MIN# number doesn't seem to form the standard format so its possible this car was never sold to the public. If thats the case then...
JN1AS44D8SW-000012
This is most likely the first S14 240sx sold to the public. Produced 02/94. Color: #AL0 (Ruby Red Pearl). M/T. SE model with Spotlight map lamps, Fog lamps, Leather seats, Leather steering wheel and shift knob, power moonroof, ABS + VLSD.

Get a carfax account and plug that vin in! That will at least narrow it down to particular city or region of the country the car is currently in.

Its not crushed, I just ran the vin since I'm board lol.
The last record of it was a title (new owner) in 2011 from a DMV in Mount Prospect, IL.
Judging by the report it's not in very good condition. It was declared a total loss by insurance in NC in 2007 but was issued a reconstructed title in Indiana in 2008. The registration should be up this year so we'll see if it gets renewed. It had 155,809 miles on it back when it was declared total loss so it would probably have around 200k miles now.
Based on those facts my guess would be that it's rotting in a junkyard somewhere unless the new owner is an enthusiast.

Oops! It appears I made a boo-boo. I thought since there was a low number of '98 models that they were all produced in late 1997, turns out not to be the case! I updated the original post with the new VIN#.

Alright guys, just pulled the report for the real last one lol. Looks like it is still alive and kicking out in Montebello, Ca. Was actually just sold to a new owner last month as the last record was a new title on 03/22/13. It should still have fairly low miles too since it only had 107,906 miles during its last emission inspection back in 08. It hasn't had a reported emission inspection since then according to the report. I'm not entirely familiar with the laws out in Cali but I think that it should have a non op registration since emissions has not been done for a while. That leads me to believe that it has been turned into a track car or something by the last owner. Hopefully the new owner is an enthusiast and not some kid who is just going to drift it into a wall...

PM me your VIN#. I highly doubt it was manufactured in 08/98.
edit:
zo0d, your car was manufactured in 05/98, paint code #AJ4 (red), Auto transmission and a CAL. emissions vehicle. It's number 107958 which is not the last car. The last car produced is 107998, so your car was 40 cars away from being the last.

There are big databases of vehicle vin numbers everywhere. Someone could forge your car's registration etc. but its not something they could not already do.

I'm taking the initiative to bump this thread as there is an ongoing thread about s13 production and it peaked my interest. So something is curious to me that we don't consider when talking about the number of kouki s14s. Take the productions numbers below:
96 - 7334
97 - 3655
98 - 2178
I've heard conflicting remarks that these are production numbers for the particular year and that these are the numbers for each model year. Which is it? They can't be the number for each model year if 7998 is the last car according to killer. My car is a 98 model, 7/97 build date number 5454 This would mean there are more than 2178 98 model year cars if my car were 2543 from the last car produced.
Given that, these must be production numbers for that year. We have to consider that a lot of those cars in the 96 category were 97 models. This would mean there are a few thousand more cars than the ~6000 cars figure that gets thrown around everywhere.
KiLLeR2001

I'll look into the production numbers for '97 and '98 models. This will include cars from 07/96 to 06/98.

Curious where you found this information by the way. I'd be interested to know if there's a way to break it down by SE, LE, Base, 5spd, etc. I know it's easy to decipher individual vins to determine but I wonder how many total we're talking.

Pretty much taking the US VIN database file for 240sx and deciphering the individual unique VIN numbers. It gets much harder with trim types as I would have to manually enter every single VIN one by one and record the data. And with every VIN id have to run 10 variations of each to find the unique numerical value since it is random check digit...
So out of 6474 unique VINs, I would have to manually check 64740 different variations to find all of the VINs.
Aka, I'm willing to do it if you guys want to gather some funds up and donate to the cause because it will literally take up all my free time.
Edit:
I would be able to record how many A/T and M/T models there are. Base, SE, LE trims. How many FED vs CAL emissions etc.

That who be nice to know. I'm sure Base and LEs are more rare an SEs. When i was shopping from July - September 98 (in Orange County, CA) in saw total of 14 cars. 9 SEs, 4 LEs, and 1 Base. About half of them were manual. And that Base was hiding in the back-lot because they wanted to sell the more expensive models first. i still remember the salesman said "you're probably not going to like it, it has no radio, no sunroof, no power locks, no alarm, no abs, and hub cap wheels." And i bought it, that same day.
