Removed airbox

I recently removed the airbox and installed a cone filter onto the MAS. I am in the process of making a CAI and the filter will be behind the fender well and behind the bumper. I'm not sure about what the hose did that was plugged onto the airbox. What does it do and is it necessary? What does everybody do with that hose when they put on a CAI?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the hose that plugged into the airbox was a secondary air line for the Air Intake Valve system. I've seen several S13 owners put crankcase breather type filters on that hose. An example of what the crankcase breather filter looks like - click attached link.
