i just put tires on my dt-05rs and when i was taking them out of my car, one of them slipped and fell on the seat rail. :duh:
anyway, the paint is really really fragile on this rim so was wondering if any of you guys know of a good way to do some touch up. should i just go to a paint shop, color match the paint, and paint it on? what do you guys do? any help would be great. thanks

if they are painted then yes i would suggest touch up paint for the scratched area. They are inexpensive wheels, so i wouldnt spend more than $10 trying to fix them. Wheels are going to get scratched no matter what,. Just expect to get them refinished in a couple of years and you'll be good. DT-05R's would look nice with custom powder coating!

yea, they're inexpensive but the fact that i havent even put them on yet bothered me a little. but i still like f-it. and it just touched it up with a black permanent marker. hahaha.. it came out pretty nice actually. i just smouged it a little and it comes out to a color close to the gunmetal. from 5ft away, you can't tell. only up close. :coolugh:
im definitely going to get it powder coated in the future. black of course.

I don't think you can really blame the paint here, you'd fuck up any wheels finish dropping it on a metal seat rail. As of now I have three nicks on these wheels, all on one wheel, and it's only because of something dumb that I did.
Knock on wood. :eek3d:

Hope you don't mind me biting off your thread ... but I was curious bout touching up my wheels too. I have a set of 3 spoke advans (black with red lip) - I bought em already scratched up ... and the red lip is kinda faded. So I'd like to have em powdercoated, but I'm scared to have anybody mess with the wheels.
Does anyone know if it's possible to do dual color powdercoating? ... and if so would they turn out looking good? I really don't wanna mess with rare advans =/

you have to admit though, the paint on these wheels are extremely fragile. moreso than others.
as for the advans guy, id say if it looks messed up, powdercoat it. who cares if their advans. if it looks messed up it looks messed up. i dont know if they can do dual powder coating though. ive never heard of it but anything can be done. it might be good just to ask around the powdercoating shops in your area.
