View Full Version : Aftermarket Torsen LSD?
I was wondering if any company made aftermarket TORSEN LSD's for our cars... 'Cuz, Kaaz, Cusco, Nismo are all clutch-type LSD's and Quaife doesn't have an application for our cars...

i know the S15 diff is a torsen type, you may want to look into getting one of those. im still waiting on my output shafts to get here, but ive got the diff it self. i cant wait to put it in. you can usually get a hold of one for less than $500 with the output shafts. other than that, im not sure of any besides a Quaife. im pretty sure they do make one for our cars, or it may be that you use another R200 diff from say a Z or something.
Thanks!! as you were writing this up, I was looking up or differentials and I found out that S15 diff is torsen... I might go there too! :) Thanks for the input! (I already have a LSD, but VLSD isn't as good)

question, why go with a torsen LSD versus the clutch-type. It's cheaper I guess. Is there a big difference??

and they say its better for road racing, but not as good as a clutch type for drifting, there was definatley a thread or two i think.

check the FAQ section for a pretty thorough write-up on the different types of LSDs and why a Torsen diff is usually considered better than a clutch diff for road racing.

yah, no problem... it should be a perfect set up for Auto-X, a clutch type would just be too hard on a tight course like that.... good luck finding one, its not tough, you just have to keep your eyes peeled. and also, make sure when you get one, it comes with output shafts. ive had my diff for months, im just waiting to get shafts for it...
I have my contacts in Japan! :) Hopefully, he can source me one... And I need an aftermarket diff for auto-x and road race, I'm no drifter.

Quaife LSD is essentially similar to a torsen/ helitical LSD, it is a gear type diff. look for it they make a R200 LSD and it was used on the project S13 in Sport compact car

Quaife = Torque Sensing (Torsen) diff. It's the same exact technology. Quaife is just a brand name. And yes, they make one that plops right in the R200 pumpkin. It's about $1200 US, IIRC.

Yes, i'll also confirm that there is one available for the S13. SCC has instructions on how to install it also.
